NXT Vengeance Day 2023 event was an NXT PLE which aired on February 4, 2022. It was the first NXT PLE event of 2023 and the third event in the Vengeance Day series. The show aird live from Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC.

Wes Lee(c) vs Dijak – NXT North American Championship
Dijak attacked NXT North American Champion Wes Lee when he returned to the promotion in December 2022. Lee defended the title against Tony D’Angelo at December 27 episode of NXT where Dijak stopped Stacks from interfering. After Dijak defeated Stacks next week, Tony challenged Dijak to face him at NXT New Year’s Evil. Wes Lee put up a stipulation that the winner would get a shot at his title. Dijak defeated Tony to become the #1 contender for the title.

Katana Chance & Kayden Carter(c) vs Fallon Henley & Kiana James – NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
Kiana James’ behavior towards Fallon Henley, Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs softened up after Henley defeated her in the War for the Bar match in December 2022. Henley was initially not buying James’ new attitude but decided to tag with her to face Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley. James’ underhanded tactics led to them winning this tag team match. Buoyed by this win, Jensen went to Shawn Michaels and asked for James and Henley to get a shot at NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship. While Henley was once again skeptical about teaming with James once again, she agreed to team up for the title shot.

Apollo Crews vs Carmelo Hayes – 2-out-of-3 Falls Match
Carmelo Hayes called out Apollo Crews on the fallout show of NXT Deadline in December 2022. Hayes defeated Crews in their first encounter the following week. After Crews saved Axiom from being beaten up by Hayes and Trick Williams, a tag team match was set up between the two sides. Crews pinned Hayes to win the tag team match. After this, Crews went to Hayes’ regular barbershop to provoke him and challenged him to a 2-out-of-3 falls match to find a definite winner in their rivalry. Hayes accepted the challenge, and the match was set up for the Vengeance Day event.

New Day(Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods)(c) vs Gallus(Wolfgang & Mark Coffey) vs Pretty Deadly(Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) vs Chase U(Duke Hudson & Andre Chase)- NXT Tag Team Championship
New Day defeated Pretty Deadly at NXT Deadline 2022 event to win NXT Tag Team Championship. New Day then wanted Pretty Deadly to complete some tasks if they wanted to get a rematch. Pretty Deadly organized a Gauntlet match at New Year’s Evil to earn a rematch, but Gallus replaced Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen in that match and defeated Pretty Deadly. When Gallus defeated Brooks and Jensen once again, New Day said they would defend the title against Gallus. Pretty Deadly interrupted their promo and later attacked both of these teams. WWE then announced a three-way match for NXT Tag Team Championship at Vengeance Day. New Day then decided to host a tag team invitation. Chase U’s Duke Hudson and Andre Chase defeated The Dyad and Edris Enofe & Malik Blade in that match to qualify.

Roxanne Perez(c) vs Jacy Jayne vs Gigi Dolin – Triple Threat Match for NXT Women’s Championship
On January 3, 2023, episode of WWE NXT, NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez interrupted a brawl in NXT Women’s Division and announced a 20-woman battle royal for NXT New Year’s Evil 2023. The winner of the battle royal would get a shot at Perez’s title at Vengeance Day event. Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne were the last two women remaining in the match and were eliminated with their feet touching the ground at the same time. At last, both of them were announced as the winners and the match at Vengeance Day was turned into a triple threat match.

Bron Breakker(c) vs Grayson Waller – Steel Cage Match for NXT Championship Match
Grayson Waller won the Iron Survivor Challenge match at NXT Deadline 2022 and earned a shot at NXT Championship with it. He faced NXT Champion Bron Breakker at New Year’s Evil 2023 event. During the match, the middle rope was broken for the second time when Waller went on it. Waller then landed face-first on the apron and down to the floor, leading to a count-out win for Breakker. Later on the show, Shawn Michaels brought in Breakker and Waller and expressed his displeasure over the match ending with a count-out. Michaels then announced a rematch between them for Vengeance Day which would be a Steel Cage match.
