WWE NXT October 17: 2 Title Contender Matches, Lyra vs Tegan Set

WWE has announced 3 matches for next week’s NXT episode which will include two title contender matches.

NXT October 17, 2023 episode will see Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal with the winner facing NXT Tag Team Champions, a triple threat #1 contender match between Baron Corbin, Dijak and Carmelo Hayes, and singles match between Lyra Valkyrie and Tegan Nox.

Cody Rhodes was the special guest manager this week on NXT. Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo and Stacks went to him and proposed the concept of a tag team battle Royal – 10 teams will start the battle royal but the last two teams will then face-off in a regulation tag team match. The winner of this match will challenge for the titles on Halloween Havoc 2023 night 1 on October 24. The list of participating teams are as below:

  • Lucien Price & Bronco Lima
  • Hank Walker and Tank Ledger

Baron Corbin stacked his claim for NXT Championship match but Dijak attacked the champion Ilja Dragunov before him. Corbin then went to Cody Rhodes to get the match and pointed out how he is the last person to beat Dragunov. However, Cody booked him in a triple-threat match against Dijak and the winner of the match between Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes. Hayes defeated Breakker to secure his place in the #1 contender match.

Lyra Valkyrie is set to challenge Becky Lynch for NXT Women’s Championship on Halloween Havoc night 1. Tegan Nox interrupted her and asked her to wait for her title shot. Nox said that she came close to beating Becky on RAW this week, and needs another shot at her. Lyra took offense on this. NXT later announced a match between them.
