Wes Lee vs Mustafa Ali Confirmed for NXT Great American Bash 2023
Wes Lee will defend his NXT North American Championship against Mustafa Ali at the NXT Great American Bash 2023 event.
Wes Lee has recently successfully defended his championship against Bate at the NXT Gold Rush event, where Ali was the special guest referee. Lee complained about Ali’s performance as the referee during that match, but Ali insisted that he called the match down the middle.
Ali asked for a title shot for himself, only to be confronted by Bate. During the last week’s episode of NXT(July 4), Ali defeated Tyler Bate in a one-on-one match. After the victory, Ali once again asked for a title match vs Lee.

WWE confirmed the match to take place at Great American Bash 2023 event via Twitter. The event is scheduled for July 30 to air live from Cedar Park, Texas, US. This is the only match announced for the event so far.
Wes Lee won the NXT North American Championship at NXT Halloween Havoc 2022 event in a five-man ladder match. His 260 days+ reign is the longest in North American title history, which has featured several open challenges and exciting matches.
In the 2023 WWE Draft, Ali was announced as a free agent now he is utilizing the opportunity to its fullest. It remains to be seen if Ali’s NXT excursion earns him his first singles title in WWE.
