RAW: Rollins Accepts Challenge, Piper Niven New Champion, Rhea Wins

WWE RAW episode of August 14, 2023, was full of action which featured Seth Rollins accepting a title match against Shinsuke Nakamura, a new champion, and Judgment Day showing their dominance. Here are the major updates from the show.

Rollins Accepts Nakamura Challenge

Shinsuke Nakamura caught Seth Rollins off guard last week after they teamed up to beat Judgement Day. Nakamura made it clear this week in an awkward interview with Michael Cole that he wants World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins was quick to come out and tell him that Nakamura did not need to attack him and could have simply asked for a title shot.

They shook hands to agree to a title match, but a date for this match was discussed. As they were shaking hands, Nakamura told Rollins something in his ears that disturbed Rollins greatly. So much so that Nakamura was once again able to hit him with a Kinshasa.

Piper Niven WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion

Chelsea Green was not ready to let go off WWE Women’s Tag Team titles despite her partner Sonya Deville being out of action. She proposed to find a new partner to continue to hold onto the titles. She did not need to wait much longer as Piper Niven bullied her and declared that she is her new tag team partner. While it was not officially announced by WWE, it seems that Piper Niven is now one half of Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Rhea Ripley Beats Indi Hartwell

Rhea Ripley returned to in-ring action this week to face Indi Hartwell. Indi tried to mount a challenge during the match but Rhea was simply too good for her. Rhea hit Riptide to get the pinfall win over Indi. However, after the match, Candice LeRae and Indi were able to take Rhea down with some tandem offense.

While Finn Balor lost to Cody Rhodes, falling victim to MITB Briefcase once again, Judgment Day showed how vicious they are. However, they needed JD McDonagh’s surprise attack to take down Cody and Sami Zayn.

Chad Gable defeated another one of Imperium’s members in Giovanni Vinci and Gunther has decided to take matters into his own hands as he is set to defend Intercontinental Championship against Gable next week. Gunther also defeated Otis in a singles match.

Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus fought to a double countout, following which Zoey Stark helped Trish once again to neutralize Becky. Adam Pearce has announced that next Becky vs Trish match will be Steel Cage match. No date is announced for this match.
