Sonya Deville Suffers Torn ACL Injury, Vacates Tag Team Titles

Sonya Deville has suffered a knee injury and will be forced to relinquish WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

According to TMZ Sports, it has been revealed that Sonya Deville has sustained a torn ACL, which required mandatory surgery. It is also revealed that Deville sustained an injury during her tag team match with Chelsea Green against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair on the July 28 episode of SmackDown.

WWE confirmed the injury during the RAW broadcast this week. Sonya Deville also commented about her injury via Twitter, where she thanked TMZ Sports and also mentioned tag team titles are cursed. Deville also thanked her fans, who have wished her a speedy recovery.

Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville won the Women’s Tag Team Championship by defeating Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.  After winning the title, Green and Deville have never defended it though.

A similar thing happened with Liv Morgan also when she was the Women’s Tag Team Champion. Due to her injury, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were forced to relinquish the tag team titles.

On the August 14 episode of RAW, WWE will decide about the future of the Women’s Tag Team title and provide updates on Deville’s injury. Women’s Tag Team Championship marked Sonya Deville’s inaugural title win in her WWE career.
