WWE’s Big Plans for Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2020

Randy Orton Elimination Chamber 2019 Entrance

Randy Orton has been on a roll with the recent win against Edge at Backlash 2020. And WWE wants to keep his momentum going with putting him in some high profile matches. He is looking set to face another wrestling legend in The Big Show at Extreme Rules in a stipulation match. But after that, he is set for another big match.

Wrestletalk reports that Orton is likely to challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE title at SummerSlam 2020. The rumors for this match have been going on for a few weeks now.

If it happens, this will be the second year in a row that Orton will be in the world title match at SummerSlam. The Viper faced Kofi Kingston in the WWE Championship match at SummerSlam 2019 PPV which ended in a double count-out.

It is also rumored that Orton had pitched the idea of feuding with a WWE NXT Superstar for SummerSlam. The names like Tommaso Ciampa and Adam Cole are being mentioned.

It is believed that Orton himself has pitched for this match. He was set to face Edge once again at SummerSlam but the injury to Edge during their last match has changed that.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is currently in a feud with Dolph Ziggler and is set to face him at Extreme Rules 2020 PPV.
