SummerSlam 2019: Kofi vs Orton Match Ended in Double Countout
The WWE Championship match between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton at Summerslam 2019 ended in a double count-out.
Kofi Kingston faced his old adversary in Randy Orton ast SummerSlam this year. Their feud was heavily based upon the fact that back in 2009, Randy Orton used his influence to book Kofi poorly during their fued. It resulted in Kofi being discarded to remain in the WWE Mid card for 10 long years until he won the WWE Championship this year at WrestleMania.
At SummerSlam, they put on a fairly good match but the ending will leave many fans dissatisfied. Late in the match, Orton transitioned a frog splash to an RKO mid-air. But with the fatigue setting in, he was unable to cover Kofi and allowed him to roll out of the ring. Orton went to try and get Kingston, but wound up getting distracted by Kingston’s wife and young children at ringside.
Just as he approached them, the referee called for the bell due to a countout. The fans in the arena did not like the turn of events and made their feelings known with boos. Kingston responded to Orton approaching his family by viciously attacking him and sending him to the announce table. He then used the kendo stick and hit a Trouble in Paradise in the ring.
With such non-finish, the rivalry is set to continue between these two. The non-finish might also be due to the fact that WWE does not have anyone free of such strature who can look credible against Kofi as the challenger. Let’s see how they will take this feud ahead.
