Painmaker Jericho & Sammy to Face Sting & Darby on AEW Dynamite June 28
“Painmaker” Chris Jericho will return to AEW as he teams up with Sammy Guevara against Sting and Darby Allin in a tornado tag team match on AEW Dynamite June 28, 2023 episode.
Sting, Darby Allin & Tetsuya Naito defeated Le Suzuki Gods(Jericho, Guevara & Minoru Suzuki) at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 event. In the post-show media scrum, Jericho interrupted Sting and Darby’s interview.
Jericho was clearly upset at his team’s loss and called out Sting and Darby to face him and Sammy in a tornado tag team match. Jericho also said that they would be facing The Painmaker version of Chris Jericho.

Toni Khan made the official after asking Darby and Sting if they were up for the match. However, both Sammy and Sting have to get medical clearance before the match.
Jericho used the gimmick Painmaker when he left WWE. He used this gimmick when he was feuding with Kazuchika Okada in NJPW, as Okada calls himself The Rainmaker. Chris Jericho has also used this Painmaker gimmick several times in AEW. The last time the gimmick was used was when he fought with Eddie Kingston at a Barbed Wire Everywhere Death Match on the July 20, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Apart from this match, the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament round 1 match is also set for June 28, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite, where Ruby Soho will face Britt Baker. The show will air from FirstOntario Center in Hamilton, Canada.
