Tama Tonga needed a win to keep his hopes alive in the tournament as he faced Henare. Even after that, his chances in the tournament depended on Finlay vs Kingston ending in a draw. Both Mikey Nicholls and Tomohiro Ishii were already eliminated from the tournament.
