NJPW is gearing up for its upcoming occasion, NJPW Destruction in Ryogoku 2023. In the event, NJPW has revealed a total of six matches, featuring the IWGP title bout.

Firstly, Hiromu Takahashi will defend his IWGP Junior Heavyweight title in a triple-threat match against Lio Rush and Mike Bailey. Bailey got the title opportunity by winning the NJPW All-Star Junior USA Tournament and at NJPW All Star Junior Festival USA 2023 event.

At the IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2 event, Rush and Trey Miguel defeated Hiromu Takahashi and Mike Bailey where Rush pinned Takahashi. After the match, Rush challenged Takahashi for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title.

Chase Owens is also scheduled for the event, where he will face Tanga Loa in a one-on-one match. During the NJPW G1 Climax 33 event, Owens and Loa were part of a 10-man tag team match. Owens was a member of the Bullet Club team, while Loa belonged to the Guerrillas of Destiny faction. At the end of the match, Tanga Loa successfully pinned Chase Owens. This outcome resulted in a match at the upcoming NJPW Destruction in Ryogoku event.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships match is also set for the event, where Bullet Club War Dogs (Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney) will defend their title against The Jetsetters (Kushida and Kevin Knight).

David Finlay is also set for the event, where he will defend his NEVER Openweight title against Tama Tonga. NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship match is also set between BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Alex Coughlin and Gabe Kidd) and El Phantasmo and Hikuleo Finally, Sanada will defend his IWGP World Heavyweight title against Evil.

NJPW Destruction in Ryogoku 2023 event is scheduled for October 9, 2023, and it will be live from Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
