Jon Moxley defeated the ace of NJPW Hiroshi Tanahashi to become the new AEW Interim World Champion at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV event.

Tanahashi and Moxley started off the match with some back-and-forth locks. Soon, Tanahashi began to work on the knee of Moxley and put him in the modified Indian death lock.

Moxley soon returned the favor by putting Tanahashi in the cloverleaf. Later, Mox even sent Tanahashi into the barricade before putting him through the table. Tanahashi barely managed to beat the count at 9.

Later, in the match when Mox was trying to hit Paradigm Shift, Tanahashi blocked it and hit him with the headbutt. Tanahashi then hit High Fly Flow for a near-fall.

In the ending moments of the match, Moxley hits hammer elbows on the neck of Tanahashi. Moxley then put him into a sleeper hold followed by a bulldog choke. When Tanahashi got back on his feet, Moxley hit him with the Paradigm Shift to get the pinfall.

After the match, Daniel Garcia & Chris Jericho attacked Tanahashi & Moxley. Soon, Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz entered the ring. However, the chaos broke out when the remaining members of the Jericho Appreciation Society entered the ring.

Soon, Claudio Castagnoli ran to the ring and started hitting uppercuts to every single member of the JAS. The latter decided to retreat while the members of the Blackpool Combat Club stood tall in the ring.
