Drew McIntyre Beats Lesnar, Wins WWE Title At WrestleMania 36
Drew McIntyre defeated the incumbent champion Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36 night 2 on 5 April 2020.
Brock Lesnar started the main event for night 2 of WrestleMania 36 with a strong tackle on McIntyre. McIntyre reversed an Irish whip to hit the first Claymore kick on Lesnar to get a near fall. Before McIntyre could do more harm, Lesnar started hitting Suplex after suplex.
Next to come was an F5 from Lesnar but McIntyre kicked out of the pin after one count itself. Lesnar went on to hit 3 more F5s but could not get the pin. An enraged Lesnar picked McIntyre once more only for McIntyre to turn it into another Claymore. It took 2 more Claymore kicks to get the win for McIntyre.
This is Drew McIntyre first WWE Championship win. McIntyre has become the first athlete from Britain to become WWE Champion. This is his first singles title in his second run in WWE main roster. Earlier, he won the Intercontinental Championship at TLC 2009 defeating John Morrison.
Drew McIntyre turned the tables on a poor 2019 with a strong start in 2020. The storyline between Lesnar and McIntyre started in the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Lesnar was running through everyone in the match until McIntyre entered at number 16 and eliminated him from the match. McIntyre went on to win the Royal Rumble and chose Lesnar as his opponent for WrestleMania.
