WWE has pulled out a major surprise at Day 1 PPV as Brock Lesnar is the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Big E was supposed to defend the WWE title against Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley in a fatal 4-way match. Lesnar, on the other hand, was booked to challenge WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

However, just an hour before the event could start, we were informed that Roman Reigns has tested positive for COVID-19 and is unable to participate tonight. The Beast Incarnate expressed on the pre-show that he want to walk away from the event as a champion and asked to be added to the WWE Championship match. It was confirmed during the pre-show that WWE title match is indeed turned into a fatal 5-way match now with Lesnar added to it.

During the main event match, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens worked together to try and nullify Lesnar. However, Lesnar proved too much for them and unleashed suplex city on them. Only after Big E had clotheslined him to the floor and Lashley had speared him into the barricade, Lesnar could be brought under control. Rollins and Owens continued to work together and slammed all three opponents into steel steps and announce table.

Big E fought back against Owens in the ring by getting his knees up on Owens’ senton. Rollins quickly followed with a splash on Big E to get a near fall. Lesnar returned to the ring and hit Owens and Rollins with F5s. Before he could drop Big E with his finisher, Lashley speared him once again. Lashley puts on the Hurt lock on the Beast, but he was saved by Big E.

Big E hit Big Ending on Lashley and looked for the same on Lesnar. Lesnar countered and hit him with Big Ending and got the pin to end the night with a big surprise.

Currently, it is not clear what are WWE’s plans with Lesnar title reign. It was earlier reported that WWE is looking to end the match between Roman and Lesnar with a big angle which could set up the main event of WrestleMania 38. It is hard to say at this point if this title change is also part of those plans for WrestleMania.

Is WWE moving towards a title unification match at WrestleMania Main Event? Keep tuned in for more news and updates from WWE.
