AEW Rampage March 25 2023

AEW Rampage will be airing a special Saturday Night episode on March 25, 2023, and we will be posting live updates from the tape delayed episode.

The show was taped earlier this week with Dynamite and spoilers are available here. A big tag team match is set between former AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed and former ROH Tag Team Champions The Kingdom.

Leila Grey will try to send a message to Taya Valkyrie against using The Jaded as they clash in a singles match. We will also hear from Ricky Starks who has called out Bullet Club’s Juice Robinson. Jericho Appreciation Soceity vs House of Black rivalry will continue with Jake Hager vs Brody King match.

Powerhouse Hobbs has issued another open challenge for AEW TNT Championship and Penta El Zero Meido has accepted it. Hobbs defeated Penta’s brother Rey Fenix last week on Rampage. Will he complete the double over Lucha Bros?

RESULTS

  • Powerhouse Hobbs(c) defeated Penta El Zero Meido in a singles match via pinfall to retain AEW TNT Championship.
  • Brody King defeated Jake Hager in a singles match via pinfall.
  • Taya Valkyrie defeated Leila Grey in a singles match via pinfall.
  • The Acclaimed(Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) defeated The Kingdom(Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) in a tag team match via pinfall.

LIVE UPDATES

Powerhouse Hobbs(c) vs Penta El Zero Meido – AEW TNT Championship

QTV crews is ringside. They start with some chest slaps before Hobbs hits a big punch. Penta hits back with a superkick and a dropkick to send Hobbs to the floor. Hobbs cuts off Penta’s suicide dive with a punch and then throws him into the steel post and then into the barricade. Hobbs breaks the countdown before coming back to the floor to beat up Penta some more. He gets a two-count back into the ring.

Penta goes for a big boot in the corner but Hobbs catches the leg and pulls Penta into a backbreaker for another two-count. Hobbs chokes Penta against the ropes. He goes to argue with the referee to distract her as QT Marshall goes on to choke Penta. We cut to a break.

After the break, Hobbs whips Penta into the ropes and hits a bit boot. Penta hits back with slingblade and a back-stabber to get a two-count. Next, he drops Hobbs onto the hard part of the apron and follows it up with a double stomp on the apron.

QT Marshall tries to give a chair to Hobbs but Aubrey Edwards catches it. Alex Abrahantes comes in and grabs the chair. The referee is distracted as he tries to get the inteferences under control. Aron Solo comes in behind his back but Penta nails him with a superkick. Hobbs was waiting for Penta when he turns around and runs him over with the TNT title belt to get the pinfall.

Winner – Powerhouse Hobbs

After the match, QT Marshall and Hobbs tries to beat up Abrahantes but Rey Fenix runs out with a hammer to force them to run off.


We get a video package on Kenny Omega vs Jeff Cobbs rivalry. They will clash next week as Omega defends IWGP US Heavyweight title.


Ricky Starks makes his way out to the ring. The crowd is hot as Ricky takes the mic and calls out Juice Robinson. Robinson gets out on the stage. He asks Starks if he wants an a## kicking, then he is gonna get it. Robinson gets down the ramp but stops just short of the ring and starts to get back. Ricky gets out of the ring and gets Robinson into the ring. Robinson runs out and says Ricky is not getting an a## kicking in Kansas City and neither in Missourie next week. Robinson says Ricky will get him in Long Island.


We see a backstage segment featuring Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh. They claim that AEW is actively trying to keep them from becoming champions. They list some of the instances where Audrey Edwards and other officials have caused them championship wins. But they will take the gold next week.

Brody King vs Jake Hager

Julia Hart is at ringside. They lock up to start the match but neither men can take the upper hand. They no-sell each other’s tackles before trading some shots. Hager hits a knee to midsection. Brody nails him with an elbow. Brody hits a double handed chop to drop Hager. Hager moves to the floor. Brody follows him to punch him again before throwing him into the barricade. Hager then counters to send Brody into the barricade to take us to a break.

Brody whips Hager to the corner before hitting Boss-man slam to get a two-count. Hager blocks a powerbomb and goes for an ankle lock. Brody rolls out of it and hits a corner splash. Hager avoids a cannonball and Brody crashes into the corner. Brody gets his legs up on Hager bomb. Anna JayAS attacks Julia Hart on the floor. Brody ducks a swing and hits a Michinoku driver to get a pinfall.

Winner – Brody King

Shane “Swerve” Strickland cuts a promo against Keith Lee and says he is bringing in more reinforcements.

Leila Grey vs Taya Valkyrie

Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling are with Leila Grey as she makes her entrance. Taya makes her entrance. Leila talks trash and flicks at Taya’s face. Taya runs her over with a lariat. Sterling runs a distraction and Leila attacks Taya from behind. More trash talk from Leila allows Taya to hit back with knee strikes. Taya hits Road to Valhalla/The Jaded to get the pinfall.

Winner – Taya Valkyrie

Mark Sterling gets into the ring with the cease and desist order for Taya. Taya hits Sterling with Road to Valhalla. Jade Cargill is not happy.

The Acclaimed(Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) vs The Kingdom(Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)

Caster and Bennett start the match. Maria offers to scissor Caster and Bennett hits him from behind. Kingdom works together to keep Caster under control. Bennett hits a big boot as Taven holds Caster in the corner. Bowens gets a blind tag and hits a neckbreaker to get a two-count. Bowens hits some chops before he blocks a piledriver. Bowens hits another neckbreaker to get a two-count. Caster hits a body slam after a tag and Bowens hits Scissor Me Timbers. Taven runs in and is throws to the floor. The Acclaimed scissor in the ring to take us to a break.

Taven hits a back heel kick on Caster as we return. Bennett tags in and gets a two-count. Taven tags back and mocks Billy Gunn with Bennett. Caster tries to fight back but Maria grabs Caster’s boot to allow The Kingdom to drop Caster. Billy Gunn forces Maria to run up the ramp. Top Flight come in and force Maria to run backstage.

Billy hits Bennett with a clothesline on the ramp. Bowens tags in and hits a superkick on Taven in the ring. Bennett is thrown in by Billy and Bowens hits him with quick elbow strikes. Taven tries to attack Bowens but Bowens hits him with big slam before Caster hits Mic Drop Elbow Drop to get the pinfall.
