AEW Dynamite June 21: Tag Title Eliminator, Jarrett vs Briscoe Added
June 21, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite shaping up to be an action-packed event with additional matches being announced including TBS Women’s title match, blind title eliminator for tag team titles and more.
Kris Statlander will face Taya Valkyrie for AEW TBS Women’s Championship. Statlander won the TBS Women’s title by defeating Jade Cargill at AEW Double or Nothing PPV event. Prior to that, Cargill had successfully defended the title against Taya Valkyrie. Valkyrie had been watching Statlander in frustration since then during every of her title defenses.
Statlander confronted Valkyrie on Rampage this week. Valkyrie told her that she was frustrated that Statlander beat Cargill after a match with and now, Statlander has taken her spot. Statlander replied that she was ready to defend the title against Valkyrie at any time.

A tournament has also been announced a way to find the next contender for AEW Tag Team Championship. There will be a blind eliminator tournament to take place on Dynamite June 21, and the winner will be facing the champions FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) at a later date. The participating teams in the match are expected to be announced on the spot. FTR last defended their titles at AEW Double or Nothing PPV event against Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett.
Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara and Minor Suzuki will face AR Fox, Action Andretti and Darius Martin. On the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, Sammy Guevara made his return to TV for the first time since AEW Double or Nothing 2023 PPV. Jericho and Guevara had an argument on Dynamite, teasing a break-up of their team. Jericho, Guevara and Suzuki successfully teamed up last year at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door also.
Jeff Jarrett will face Mark Briscoe in a Concession Stand Brawl match. Jarrett and Briscoe’s storyline goes back to the start of April when Jarrett and Lethal started pursuing Briscoe’s help to get information on tag team champions FTR. Briscoe was the special guest referee at Double or Nothing PPV in the tag title match. Briscoe’s team, with Audrey Edwards and Papa Briscoe to beat Jarrett’s team with Karen and Jay Lethal. The rivalry will reach its peak with this Concession Stand brawl.
June 21, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite will be live from Wintrust Arena, Chicago, IL, US, and will also act as the go-home episode for Forbidden Door 2023 PPV. The card already had brothers tag team match announced between The Hardys and The Gunns. Orange Cassidy & Katsuyari Shibata will take on their future title challengers in Zack Sabre Jr. and Daniel Garcia. Below is the complete match card for the show:
