UFC Mexico: Albazi Out, Brandon Moreno vs Brandon Royval Set
Brandon Royval has been scheduled to step in for Amir Albazi against Brandon Moreno at UFC Mexico Fight Night event.
As per Carlos Contreras Legaspi’s report, Albazi won’t be participating in his upcoming bout against Moreno due to a neck injury. Following medical scans, doctors recommended his withdrawal from the fight. Brandon Royval will replace Albazi to face Moreno in a flyweight division bout at UFC Mexico Fight Night event.
As of the latest UFC flyweight rankings, Brandon Royval holds the third position, while Brandon Moreno is ranked first in the division after the champion. Both men are coming off a loss to UFC Flyweight Champion Alexander Pantoja on their last bouts.

Brandon Royval’s match against Alexandre Pantoja was at UFC 296 where he suffered a defeat via unanimous decision to lose the title bout. This loss brought an end to Royval’s three-fight winning streak. Before the fight against Pantoja, Royval secured a victory against Matheus Nicolau at the UFC Kansas City event, achieving a knockout. This particular performance earned him the UFC Performance of the Night accolade.
Brandon Moreno second clash with Alexandre Pantoja came at UFC 290 where Panttoja defeated him via split decision to take the UFC Flyweight Championship. This defeat marked the conclusion of Moreno’s two-fight winning streak and also his second title reign. Preceding the bout with Pantoja, Moreno emerged victorious against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 283 to win the title for the second time. At present, Moreno’s UFC record reflects 9 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws.
UFC Mexico City Fight Night is scheduled for February 24, 2024, and is set to take place at Mexico City Arena in Mexico City, Mexico. A lightweight bout is also set for the event, where Daniel Zellhuber will face Francisco Prado.
