EVENT NOTES

In September, some reports suggested that UFC is looking to return to Shanghai, China with a Fight Night event on December 9, 2023. UFC confirmed those reports with an official announcement on November 1. Later in November, it was reported that UFC has shifted the event to Apex Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Song Yadong vs Chris Gutierrez bout was initially announced as the main event when the event was announced for Shanghai. The same fight retained the status as the main event after the change in venue.

Azamat Murzakanov and Khalil Rountree Jr. were set for light heavyweight bout at UFC Austin on December 2. However, Murzakanov suffered from pneumonia a week before the event and had to pull out. Anthony Smith then agreed to fight Roundtree on a short notice but the bout was to UFC Vegas 83 event as the co-main event.

Steve Garcia Jr. and Melquizael Costa were set to clash at UFC Austin 2023 Fight Night event. Garcia fell ill before the weigh-in and the fight had to be canceled. It was later rebooked for this event.

Stephanie Egger and Luana Santos were announced for a women’s bantamweight bout. But, Santos missed weight by 3 lbs over the bantamweight limit of 136 lbs and the bout was turned into a catchweight bout at 139 lbs.
