UFC Vegas 87: Oliveira Faces Bernardo Sopai, Updated Card
UFC Vegas 87 fight card has undergone changes with Vinicius Oliveira to face Bernardo Sopai instead of Yanis Ghemmouri.
Yanis Ghemmouri had to pull out of his bout against Vinicius Oliveira due to an injury. AFN Bantamweight Champion Bernardo Sopai will make his UFC debut to face Oliveira instead, as per a report from Guilherme Cruz.
A Swedish National, Sopai was scheduled to defend his title on AFN 5 event on March 9, but will instead face Oliveira now. His overall MMA record stands at 11-2.
Raul Rosas Jr. vs Ricky Turcois bout is also added to UFC Vegas 87. Rosas vs Turcois bout was scheduled for UFC Mexico City event last Saturday. However, Rosas suffered from diarrhea which led to a withdrawal just minutes before the walkout.
Dana White announced a while later that the bout would now take place on March 2 event. He also stated in the press conference that the bout will take place at a catchweight now since both fighters made weight successfully prior to the cancellation. However, it is still listed as a bantamweight bout.
Additionally, Ľudovít Klein will now take on AJ Cunningham at the event as per Alex Behunin. Klein was scheduled to face Joel Álvarez earlier, but Álvarez has now shifted to April 27 event with unknown reasons where he would face Mateusz Rębecki.
