Anthony Smith and Khalil Rountree are set to square off in a fight announced for UFC Vegas 83 event.
Dana White made the announcement on Friday that Khalil Rountree’s anticipated fight against Azamat Murzakanov at UFC event on December 2 was canceled due to Murzakanov battling pneumonia.
White also announced that Smith and Rountree are set to clash in a light heavyweight division bout. which will take place at UFC’s December 9 event in Vegas instead of Roudtree’s planned bout on December 2. It is also revealed that this matchup will serve as the co-main event.

Rountree is coming into this fight wuth a victory over Chris Daukaus via knockout. Rountree is presently on a four-fight winning streak while His UFC record stands at 8 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw.
Anthony Smith’s most recent fight took place at UFC on ESPN+ 83, where he secured a victory over Ryan Spann via split decision, putting an end to his two-fight losing streak. Prior to the Spann fight, Smith suffered a defeat at the hands of Glover Teixeira during the Grappling at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 event. Smith’s UFC record currently stands at 12 wins and 8 losses.
UFC Vegas 83 event is scheduled to take place on December 9, 2023, at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. A women’s strawweight bout is also set for the event, where Rayanne Dos Santos will face Talita Alencar.
