EVENT NOTES
In December 2023, MMA Mania reported that UFC had applied for an event license for April 6 at UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas. This is going to be the 90th UFC Fight Night event at the venue, and hence, is also known as UFC Vegas 90.
UFC announced that the Marvin Vettori vs Brendan Allen middleweight bout would headline the event on April 6, 2024. On March 14, Vettori revealed that he had to pull out of the bout due to a “freak accident”. Chris Curtis was announced as the replacement two days later. Previously, Curtis defeated Allen at a Fight Night event in December 2021.
Morgan Charrière and Choi Seung-woo were announced to clash in a featherweight bout at the event. Later, Choi withdrew from the bout with unknown reason and was replaced by Jose Mariscal.
A middleweight bout between Josh Fremd and César Almeida was booked for the event. Fremd pulled out from the bout with unknown reasons. Dylan Budka came in as a replacement.
Jose Johnson and Lucas Rocha were reported for a flyweight bout at the event. However, Johnson pulled out with undisclosed reasons before he was replaced by Joshua Van.
Cynthia Calvillo and Piera Rodriguez were booked in a strawweight bout. However, Calvillo missed the weight by 3 lbs at the weigh-in event. The bout was later cancelled.
Alexander Hernandez and Damon Jackson were booked in the co-main event featherweight bout. Hernandez weighed in 1.5 lbs above the weight limit at 147.5 pounds. The bout proceeded at 147.5 lbs catchweight after Hernandez was fined 20% of his purse.
Nora Cornolle and Melissa Mullins were booked in a bantamweight bout. Cornolle weighed in at 138.5 lbs while Mullins weighed in at 138 lbs – both coming above the limit. Their bout proceeded at catchweight with neither being issued a fine.
