UFC Austin: Jared Cannonier Out of Bout vs Roman Dolidze
Jared Cannonier has withdrawn from his UFC Austin Fight Night event bout against Roman Dolidze scheduled for December 2, 2023.
Cannonier was asked to face Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294 event but was unable to accept the fight due to a torn MCL shortly after receiving the invitation. This revelation came during Cannonier’s interview with Submission Radio.
In the same interview, Cannonier revealed that he has to pull out of his matchup against Roman Dolidze UFC Austin Fight Night. The complete interview is embedded below.
Jared Cannonier is currently on a two-fight winning streak. His latest contest took place at UFC Vegas 75, where he squared off against Marvin Vettori and emerged victorious through a unanimous decision. Before the Vettori bout, Cannonier had also triumphed over Sean Strickland. It’s important to mention that in the year 2023, Cannonier has only competed in one bout.
Roman Dolidze previously had a fight set for UFC 295 against Derek Brunson, but the match was called off due to Brunson’s withdrawal. Before the cancellation, Dolidze had experienced a defeat against Marvin Vettori at UFC 286.
It remains to be seen if UFC is able to arrange a replacement to face Dolidze who now has two fight cancellations in a row.
UFC Fight Night Austin event is scheduled for December 2, 2023, and it will be broadcast live from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, United States. A welterweight bout is also set for the event, where Wellington Turman will face Jared Gooden.
