Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic at ufc 295

Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic might still end up facing each other in 2024.

Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic were set to clash in the main event of UFC 295, with Jones defending his UFC heavyweight title. However, the fight was cancelled after Jones suffered a torn pectoral muscle injury during training the previous night.

This withdrawal marks only the second time in Jon Jones’ 15-year career that he has withdrawn from a fight due to injury. The first instance was for his scheduled bout against Daniel Cormier at UFC 178, when he suffered a torn meniscus and a sprained ankle.

As per Marc Raimondi’s report, UFC has already started planning his return fight. The promotion is planing to reschedule Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic for a major event in 2024, depending on Jones’ recovery from injury.

The headline bout for UFC 295 has changed, with the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship now set to be contested between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira.

UFC has also introduced an interim heavyweight title which will be crowned in the co-main event of UFC 295 PPV in the bout between Serghei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall. It remains to be seen how the interim titleholder affect the plan for Jones’ next fight.
