BKFC 53 brought a middleweight title fight with itself in the main event as David Mundell defends the title against Doug Coltrane. Mundell made his second defense of his title after winning the title at BKFC 34 against Francesco Richhi and defending it against Mike Richman at BKFC 47. Coltrane was unbeaten in BKFC so far in three bouts. Was he able to break Mundell’s 5 fights winning streak?
The co-main event saw Murat Kazgan take on Julian Lane in a welterweight bout. Kazgan beat Jordan Weeks in his BKFC debut earlier this year. Lane returned to the promotion after more than a year after competing in MMA bouts elsewhere.
Diego Romo, Mike Heckert, Scott Lampert, Nathan Rivera, and Dagoberto Aguero were the debutants on the main card. Jeff Janvier vs Devonte Jeffery bout on the prelims also saw a couple of debutants in the action.
