WWE SmackDown March 8, 2024 episode featured Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins responding to The Rock’s challenge for WrestleMania XL. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns was also expected to be on the show.
Bobby Lashley clashed with Karrion Kross in a singles match. United States Champion Logan Paul arrived to the show looking for his next challenger. More build-up continued for WrestleMania. Tune in below for results from WWE SmackDown March 8, 2024 episode.
RESULTS & UPDATES
The show started with a recap of The Rock’s challenge from last week. Then, we saw the footage of The Rock, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins entering the arena earlier in the day separately. Security was around all of them.
WWE United States Champion Logan Paul came out and talked about his success in WWE so far and being the most viral star in the company. He then revealed that his company “Prime” had become the first-ever middle-of-the-ring sponsor in WWE starting at WrestleMania. He also invited his business partner KSI in the ring from the front row. They were posing for a photo but Randy Orton’s music hit. Orton came from behind and tried to hit RKO on Logan, but he blocked and slipped out to the floor. Orton hit KSI with RKO instead.
Kevin Owens & Randy Orton defeated A-Town Down Under(Grayson Waller & Austin Theory) in a tag team match. In the final sequence, Owens helped Orton to block a double team from Theory & Waller. Owens then hit a Stunner on Waller before he helped Orton to hit an RKO on Theory to get the pinfall.
Logan Paul attacked Orton & Owens after the match from behind. He tried to punch them with the brass knuckles, but Orton kicked Paul him away. Orton tried to use the knuckles, but Paul ducked and left. Orton nearly hit Owens with that shot.
Bayley had a sit-down interview from Kayla Braxton to talk about betrayal from Dakota Kai last week. Bayley said that she keeps questioning what is real after everything she had gone through with Damage CTRL but has more focus ahead of WrestleMania XL.
Naomi and Bianca Beliar were watching the interview backstage. Naomi said that she felt bad for Bayley. Belair said Bayley made her bed with her actions, and she was facing consequences.
Bobby Lashley defeated Karrion Kross in a singles match via disqualification. Lashley had momentum and was looking for a spear but AOP attacked him to cause a DQ.
The Street Profits ran out to make the save. The brawling continued. B-Fab slapped Scarlett. Kross and AOP took over control and cleared the ring except for Lashley and beat him down before standing tall over him.
Legado Del Fantasma bullied Dragon Lee backstage, saying Lee is not the next Rey Mysterio. Garza told him that he would see him in the ring tonight.
Tiffany Stratton defeated Michin in a singles match. A short back-and-forth match saw Michin taking over control. However, as she tried to signal for Styles Clash, Tiffany got the chance to counter and hit Prettiest Moonsault Ever to get the pinfall.
We saw a video promo from AJ Styles where he talked about how he travelled to Australia just to attack LA Knight. Knight was watching it on TV backstage and went on to destroy it in anger.
Dragon Lee defeated Angel in a singles match via pinfall. Another good luchador battle before Lee caught Angel with a rana pin to get the pinfall win. After the match, Legado Del Fantasma beat up Lee.
We cut to a backstage promo from Damage CTRL where Iyo Sky said that their vision was all about her from day 1, and Bayley had no place in it. Dakota Kai challenged Bayley for a singles match next week.
The security was outside Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins’ locker room. Nick Aldis knocked on the door, but nobody was inside. He asked security where they went, but they had no idea.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns walked out with Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. The Rock came out after this. Roman asked the crowd to acknowledge “The Greatness”. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins came out through the crowd before we cut to a break.
After the break, Cody and Rollins were in the ring. Cody talked about The Rock’s challenge and was about to accept the challenge when The Rock told him and Rollins to shut up and went on to insult them for a while. Rollins ultimately screamed at him to shut up and accepted the challenge. Roman then tried to insult Cody for letting Rollins speak for him. The Rock then pulled rank on him as Board of Director and told Cody that he would never get another shot at Universal Championship if he failed to beat Roman at WrestleMania 40. The Rock went further and started talking about Cody’s siblings how his sister was a cheerleader and his elder brother is a future Hall of Famer. The Rock then said Cody is the youngest of the sibling which means he was a mistake. Cody slapped The Rock. Roman checked on The Rock as the show went off the air.
