WWE SmackDown Live Results & Updates- 24 April 2020

The commentary teams takes us to a video package which recaps the history between Bray Wyatt and WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman. Next, we see recent events in the storyline with Otis, Mandy Rose, Dolph Ziggler and Sonya Deville. Otis vs Ziggler is announced for MITB qualifiers while and Carmella vs Mandy Rose is from women’s side.

After another break, we see Triple H suffering a knee injury in May 2001 and then returning to 8 months later at Madison Square Garden in January 2002.

Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss(c) vs Dana Brooke & Carmella – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match

Nikki Cross and Dana Brooke start the match. Dana comes with a dropkick to send Nikki out of the ring. Carmella takes down Bliss at ringside and Nikki returns the favor. Dana then leaps off the steps with a Nikkibody on Nikki. We go to the break.

Back from the break and Carmella and Bliss tags in. Carmella takes the upperhand with a clothesline. She shows off with a moonwalk and keeps control. Nikki has to break the pin on Bliss. Dana then goes to after Nikki at the ringside but Bliss kicks her through the ropes. She also drops Carmella in the ring.

They tangle on the top for a while until Carmella brings Bliss down with a head-scissor. Nikki takes the blind tag and unloads on Carmella. Carmella blocks a neck breaker and hits a superkick. Bliss tags in and combines with Nikki for a modified 3D double team move to Carmella for the pin and the win

Triple H 25 Years Celebration

Triple H comes out for his 25th Anniversary Celebration. He takes the mic and says it is hard for him to believe that it’s been 25 years for him. His DX partner Shawn Michaels come out now. He talks about Triple H and puts him over as one of the greatest WWE performers of all-time. Triple H has an arm around Michaels which leads some social distancing joke. Michaels says he sent out hundreds of invitations to Triple H’s friends and loved ones around the world, and they are all here. The camera shows the empty Performance Center.

Shawn then talks about their friendship and having good times in DX. Shawn everything they touched turned to gold and sends us to a video featuring their “flawless executions” featuring DX’s “Not So” greatest moments. Shawn then mentions Hunter’s career accomplishments and countless WrestleMania moments. He sends us to another comic video package of Triple H’s WrestleMania losses- 14 of them. Triple H says he wants to thank people that joined him in the ring every night who all made him look good throughout his career.

Shawn brings up Triple H meeting Stephanie McMahon and mocks her with some mimicry. Triple H’s phone rings and it’s Stephanie on the other side. They chat on video call and Stephanie brings up Shawn mocking her on TV. Triple H try to downplay it but Stephanie starts ranting on Shawn. Hunter cuts the call but he soon gets another call. Its Ric Flair, who congratulates Hunter. Flair also jokes that Triple H better not let Shawn superkick him at the end of the segment.

Back from the break, Triple H takes another call from Road Dogg. Shawn says it’s almost time to go but Triple H says he spoke with FOX and they can go as long as they want tonight. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon comes out to his music next. Vince says he was not going to miss out on making remarks and jokes about not hugging him due to social distancing. HE talks about some of Hunter’s career, hits and misses and jokes around for a bit. Vince brings up “This is Life” incident from 2017 next. He also jokes that Michaels and Triple H’s performance tonight sucked and is just God awful.

Vince tells them to wrap it up as he makes his exit. The lights start going down in the WWE Performance Center with Hunter and Michaels still in the ring. We hear the sound of crickets echo out over the arena. Triple H jokes that Vince really is throwing them out. It’s just about pitch black in the Performance Center now. Triple H asks Shawn if he hears the crickets too. “The story of your career, pal. The story of your career,” Shawn says. The show goes off.
