Welcome to the live results blog for WWE NXT episode of November 21, 2023, which was live in the build-up to Deadline 2023.

Lyra Valkyrie was set to defend NXT Women’s Championship against Xia Li, who lost a really competitive match at RAW this week against Becky Lynch. Chad Gable challenged for Heritage Cup against Noam Dar.

Eddy Thorpe faced Charlie Dempsey in a singles match after their argument last week. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe took on Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo in a #1 contender match for NXT Tag Team Championship. Additionally, two qualifiers for Iron Survivor Challenge matches were also scheduled for the show.

Noam Dar(c) vs Chad Gable British Rounds Rules match for NXT Heritage Cup ended in a draw at 1-1.
Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo defeated Malik Blade & Edris Enofe in a tag team match via pinfall to beocme #1 contender match for NXT Tag Team Championship.
Josh Briggs defeated Carmelo Hayes in Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier via pinfall.
Blair Davenport defeated Thea Hail in Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier via pinfall.
Eddy Thorpe defeated Charlie Dempsey in a singles match via pinfall.
Lyra Valkyrie(c) defeated Xia Li in a singles match via pinfall to retain NXT Women’s Championship.

LIVE UPDATES

Noam Dar(c) vs Chad Gable – British Rounds Rules match for NXT Heritage Cup

Round 1: Dar starts with a calf kick. Gable starts with a couple of takedown. Dar puts on a hammerlock. Gable reverses it. Gable brings him down with leg scissors. Dar counters with a headlock. Gable gets him in an arm wringer. He hits a couple of overhead toss to get a two-count. Gable puts on an ankle lock, but Dar quickly gets to the ropes. The rounds ends with Gable in control.

Round 2: Dar starts with a calf kick once again. Gable drops him with a shoulder tackle. Dar hits kicks to the chest. Gable gets enraged and shoves him down to the mat. He hits another tackle to drop Dar. He follows up with an overhead toss. Dar hits more calf kicks and a side kick to the chest. Gable puts on an armbar using the ropes until the referee’s count. Mensah takes a cheap shot at Gable from outside and Dar hits Nova Roller to get the first pinfall.

Round 3 is just ending as we return from the break. Gable hits a superplex and gets him in an inside cradle for a near fall.

Round 4: They trade big punches. Gable tosses him again. He hits a diving headbutt to get a two-count. Dar gets to the apron. Gable goes to hit a German suplex but Dar hangs onto the ropes. Dar hits a DDT from the apron instead. Dar gets back into the ring. Gable manages to beat the countdown at the last second. Dar decks Gable but he is able to kick out of the pin. Gable gets to vertical base with Dar on his back. Gable goes for another pin attempt to get a two-count. Dar hits a ripcord knee but Gable kicks out again.

Round 5: Gable hits an overhead kick and Chaos Theory to get the pinfall.

In between the rounds, Dar hits a cheap shot to drop Gable while the referee is controlling Maxxine Dupri and Lash Legends.

Round 6: Dar jumps on Gable in the corner before a suplex. Gable hits back with a brainbuster. He gets on the top rope. Dar gets him down but Gable hits him with a powerbomb to get a two-count. Dar drops Gable with a back elbow to get another two-count. He goes for an enzuigiri but Gable puts him in an ankle lock. They increase intensity as they enter the final minute of the round. Gable goes for a moonsault. Dar gets his legs up. Gable catches his ankle for an ankle lock. Gable gets in the middle but time runs out. Dar did tap out after the bell though.

Result – Draw(1-1)

After the match, Oro Mensah tries to attack but Otis sends him to the floor. Maxxine slaps Lash Legends and she falls in Otis’ lap.

JBL announces his picks for Iron Survivor Challenge qualifiers – Carmelo Hayes vs Josh Briggs, and Blair Davenport vs Thea Hail.

The Family holds a party for Tony D’Angelo and Stacks as they won back NXT Tag Team Championship.

Trick Williams comes in as Carmelo Hayes is sitting in the locker room. Hayes says he wants to get the win on his own in the qualifier tonight.

NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyrie is making her entrance. Xia Li attacks her and drops her from behind.

Malik Blade & Edris Enofe vs Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo – #1 contender match for NXT Tag Team Championship

Garza and Carrillo get their offense going early. Carrillo jumps in for a bulldog as Garza holds Blade. Blade go for a tag after a kick but Carrillo intervenes to pull him back. Garza tags in and keeps Blade away from the tag. Blade hits a jawbreaker and a DDT. Hot tag to Enofe as Carrillo comes in from the other side. Enore hits forearms, a dropkick and running forearms in the corner. Garza ducks a moonsault and Carrillo hits a powerbomb after rolling him up. Carrillo tosses Enofe into a kick from Garza to get the pinfall.

Backstage, Lyra Valkyrie is being checked by the doctors after attack from Xia Li.

Carmelo Hayes vs Josh Briggs – Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier

Hayes fires quick punches. Briggs fires a big shot. Hayes hits a dropkick to send him to the floor. Briggs fires back with big shot on the floor. Hayes catches him with a leg drop on the ropes as he is getting back to the ring. He hits a crossbody on the floor. He goes for another crossbody but Briggs catches him this time and slams him on the apron. Back to the ring, Briggs hits a big shoulder tackle after Hayes blocks a suplex. Briggs continues to be in control and toys around with Hayes. The action spills on the floor and Briggs throws him over the announce table. We cut to a break.

Briggs remains in control as we return. He hits a running forearm in the corner, followed by a big boot and body slam. Hayes asks for more after he kicks out of a pin. Hayes fires punches now. Briggs shuts him up with a big blow. Hayes hits chops. Briggs slams him to the mat before a standing splash to get a two-count. Hayes starts to create momentum and hits a bulldog. He hits some punches, follows with a hurricanrana, a kick to the face and a scissor kick to get a near fall.

Briggs hits a chokeslam and a running boot, but Hayes kicks out of the pin. Hayes blocks a chokeslam and hits a codebreaker. He gets to the top rope but Lexis King distracts him. Hayes hits a kick on King from the apron. Briggs takes advantage with a big lariat. He hits a moonsault from the top rope to get the pinfall.

Winner – Josh Briggs

Lyra Valkyrie is interviewed backstage and says the match will go on tonight even if she is not 100% as she can’t let Xia Li go off after that attack.

Von Wagner gets to Mr. Robert Stone’s home for dinner. Stone’s wife and kids also join in. Wagner seemed awkward and was at the same level intellectually as Stone’s kids.

Lee’s Raod to NA Title

Wes Lee comes out to the ring to a great response from the crowd. He starts his promo by talking about how he wants to win back NXT North American Championship. He says he sees disdain in Dominik Mysterio and has a face you just want to punch into dust. When he was the North American Champion, he felt like he belonged. He wants another shot at the title and challenges Dominik for Deadline.

Dominik Mysterio comes out and gets welcomed with boos when he tries to talk. Lee tells him that his title reign has been a joke and he gets saved by The Judgment Day at every turn. Dominik tells Lee that he will have to face three other former North American Champions, and only if he wins that match, he will get a shot at NXT North American Championship at Deadline. Lee accepts the challenge.

Blair Davenport vs Thea Hail – Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier

Thea starts with a couple of armdrags. Blair dodges in the corner and hits a stomp at her hand. She throws her into the turnbuckle a couple of times before a big boot. She keeps the control for a while. Thea goes for another armdrag but Blair holds onto her arm. Thea uses the ropes for another armdrag to break free. She hits flying shoulder tackle and more quick moves to create momentum.

Blair gets her down to the mat with an armbar. Thea drags towards the ropes but Blair brings her back to the middle. Thea counters with a pin attempt. Blair stomps on her. She goes to the floor to argue with Jacy Jayne. Thea hits her with a suicide dive and a suplex on the floor. Thea gets distracted when she does not get support from Chase U students section after a senton. Blair gets her knees up on a moonsault. Blair hits a big boot to get the pinfall.

Winner – Blair Davenport

Baron Corbin narrates a video package where first he talks about NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov. He says Dragunov puts himself second to his family and is in US alone to compete in NXT. He only communicates with his family via video call and only kisses NXT title to sleep. On the other hand, he has generational wealth and his family with him all the time. He wonders what is better to end 2023 than to win NXT Championship.

Eddy Thorpe vs Charlie Dempsey

They start with arm wringers. Dempsey gets the first takedown. They tussle on the mat for a while. Thorpe hits a crossbody to take him down. Dempsey hangs onto the ropes to avoid a dropkick. He hits some quick shots before a double underhook suplex bridge to get a two-count. Thorpe fights back and answers every shot.

Dempsey hits a knee to midsection before putting on a chinlock. Dempsey hits elbow shots to ribs as he puts on an abdominal stretch. Thorpe hits a hip toss before creating momentum with punches and kicks. He drops Dempsey with an enzuigiri. A big boot in the corner before Dempsey puts him in abdominal stretch again. Thorpe turns it into a pin attempt to get the three counts.

Tony D’Angelo and Stacks are finishing up their dinner. When they reach the parking lot, Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo attack them. Garza and Carrillo run away when they see the rest of the Family running in.

Arianna Grace gets a video package where she says beauty queens fix each others’ crown. But, she was a victim of henious attack from Karmen Petrosyan. She says envy is an incurable disease.

Lyra Valkyrie(c) vs Xia Li – NXT Women’s Championship

Lyra starts with punches and knee strikes to midsection. Li shoves her back to the mat. She boots Lyra to the corner. More punches follow after the referee tells her to get out of the corner. Lyra hits a crossbody, and an armdrag. Li gets to the floor. Lyra brings her back. She goes to the top, but Li pulls her off the top. We cut to a break.

Li is still in control. She has a headlock on. Lyra breaks free but Li hits a neckbreaker. Li puts on chinlock. Lyra breaks free again and hits a low dropkick to trip Li. Li hits kicks to the chest when Li is on her knees. Li catches one kick and trips Lyra to put on a chinlock again. Lyra manages to work out of it. She hits a series of kicks again. She blocks Li’s counter with a backslide to get a two-count. Li puts her in an airplane spin before slamming her to the mat. They switch waistlocks before Lyra hits a German suplex.

They trade forearms before trading knee strikes. Li puts on chinlock again. Lyra turns it into a pinfall attempt. Lyra ducks a roundhouse kick and answers with one of her own. Lyra hits Death Valley Driver/F5 to get the pinfall.
