Toni Storm will defend AEW Women’s World Championship against Willow Nightingale at AEW NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 PPV event.

This was officially announced during June 21, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite. This will be Toni Storm second title defense of AEW Women’s title in her second reign. She won the title at AEW Double or Nothing PPV last month by defeating Jamie Hayter.

Her first defense came against Skye Blue on June 14 Dynamite episode. After her successful defense, Toni joined Ruby Soho in a post-match beatdown. This led to Willow Nightingale running out to make the save.

The Outcasts – Toni Storm and Ruby Soho – then faced Willow Nightingale and Skye Blue which resulted in Skye Blue pinning Soho to secure the victory.

Willow Nightingale is currently the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, although her title will not be in the line. She became the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champion by defeating Mercedes Mone in the tournament final at NJPW Resurgence 2023 event.

AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door PPV event is scheduled for June 25 at Scotia Bank Center in Toronto, Canada. Athena vs Billie Starkz match in round 1 of Owen Hart Cup is the only other women’s match on the card so far.
