Report: Cash Wheeler Dealing With Injury That Led to Title Loss

Cash Wheeler has suffered an injury during WrestleDream 2023 PPV.

Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio regarding Cash Wheeler’s injury status. Wheeler and Dax Harwood lost the AEW Tag Team Championships to Ricky Starks and Big Bill at the beginning of October 7 episode of AEW Collision. The match lasted for less than five minutes.

Bryan Alvarez reported that Wheeler sustained his injury during the WrestleDream 2023 PPV event during the match where FTR defended their title against Aussie Open. Wheeler has suffered a rib injury.

The Young Bucks had already set up a fourth title match against FTR after winning a fatal 4-way match at WrestleDream. It is speculated the Bucks would have dethroned FTR for the title. However, this injury has forced FTR to drop the title earlier than planned.

Ricky Starks and Big Bill will be defending their titles against The Young Bucks at a later stage. However, the specific date for this title defense has not been revealed yet.

There were also speculations that FTR had to drop the title due to an impending case against Cash Wheeler. Wheeler was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm during a road rage incident in August. However, it seems that it an injury that has forced FTR to lose the titles.
