Report on Mercedes Mone for IMPACT Slammiversary & Future Plans

Mercedes Mone is rumored to be backstage at IMPACT Slammiversary 2023 PPV this Saturday.

Mercedes Mone is out of action since May when she got injured while she was facing Willow Nightingale at the NJPW STRONG Resurgence event. NJPW announced that during the match she suffered from an ankle injury.

According to the report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Mone will be backstage at IMPACT Slammiversary event likely to support Trinity Fatu. Trinity will face Deonna Purrazzo for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship at the event.

Mone has been seen supporting Fatu on two occasions when she debuted in IMPACT in April. Fatu was also at Wrestle Kingdom 17 where Mone defeated KAIRI to win IWGP Women’s Championship.

During the time of WWE Mercedes Mone, aka Sasha Banks, and Trinity Fatu, aka Naomi, were seen as tag team partners. The duo has also won the WWE Tag Team Championship and walked out of the company as the champions over creative dispute.

Dave Meltzer also reported on the future plans for Mone in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The report says Mercedes Mone is likely to challenge Giulia for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship.

Mone lost the final to Willow Nightingale to crown the inaugural champion at NJPW Resurgence 2023 event due to injury. Giulia beat Willow to win the title at NJPW Independence Day event earlier this month.
