Kofi Kingston to defend WWE Title Against Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2019

Kofi Kingston has chosen to defend his WWE Championship title against Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2019 on 11 August.

After having successfully defended the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe at Extreme Rules, Kofi was challenged by Joe, Elias and Randy Orton last week for the WWE Championship. WWE was advertising that Kofi will reveal his choice of opponent this week at SmackDown. And the same thing happened as Kofi called out Randy Orton for the SummerSlam match. Orton came out and the two opponents cut a promo in the ring trying to get one over each other.

Kofi later faced Samoa Joe in a non-title match which Orton saw from the ringside. As Kofi was getting ready to finish the match, Orton interfered in an attempt to hit him with RKO. Kofi avoided the move but the referee called for the disqualification. Orton eventually hit RKO on Samoa Joe but was also hit by the Trouble in Paradise from Kofi.

Before reaching SummerSlam, Kofi is set to defend the title against Samoa Joe and Dolph Ziggler in a triple threat match at WWE Network special SmackVille, this Saturday. If he is successful in his title defense, he will move on to SummerSlam 2019 which takes place on 11 August at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada.
