Jon Moxley has expectedly qualified for the interim AEW World Championship match at AEW*NJPW Forbidden Door 2022 PPV.

After AEW World Champion CM Punk got injured, the promotion announced that an interim World title will be introduced while Punk recovers after surgery.

The interim champion is to be crowned at Forbidden Door with one wrestler from AEW and one from NJPW clashing in the main event. A Casino Battle Royal and an eliminator match took place on this week’s AEW Dynamite to identify the challenger from AEW’s side. Kyle O’Reilly won the 21-man Casino Battle Royal. He later faced #1 contender Jon Moxley, where Moxley came out victorious.

From NJPW side, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Hirooki Goto will face-off in the other title eliminator match at Dominion 6.12. The winner of that match will then face Moxley for the interim AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door PPV.

Also announced for Forbidden Door is a fatal 4-way for the new AEW All Atlantic Championship. Adam Page also challenged IWGP Kazuchika Okada for the title match, but Adam Cole interrupted him to stake his claims for the title.
