GCW presented The Way I Am event on May 20, 2023 at the Harpo’s Theatre in Detroit, MI, live on Fite TV free to Fite Plus subscribers as usual.
A stacked card with 3 title matches was announced. Masha Slamovich defended GCW World title in a signature GCW 6-way scramble match and faced an all-female cast of LuFisto, Maki Itoh, Allie Katch, Allysin Kay and Shazza McKenzie. This was her sixth defense of the title after beating the likes of Mike Bailey, Cole Radrick, and most recently against Alec Price at GCW Brooklyn Fight Night.
The East-West Express defended GCW Tag Team Championship against former champions The Motor City Machine Gun and Los Macizos. Rina Yamashita faced Jimmy Lloyd to defend GCW Ultravoilet title. There were several GCW marquee singles matches in Joey Janela vs Ninja Mack and Blake Christian vs Effy. Mance Warner takes on Tommy Vendetta and JWM faces Crazy King in the other announces matches.
