Forbidden Door 2023: AEW World Title & IWGP World Title Matches Set
Both AEW World Championship and IWGP World Heavyweight Championship matches are officially announced for AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 event.
Sanada will face Jack Perry for IWGP World Heavyweight Championship and MJP will defend his AEW championship title against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
On the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, Sanada calls an open challenge for AEW roster for his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Jack Perry was backstage with Hook for an interview and accepted the open challenge. He also asked Hook to be in his corner ringside during their match at Forbidden Door.

Later on Dynamite, Hiroshi Tanahashi challenged MJF for his AEW Championship. MJF was asked about this challenge and said no to this match. When informed that AEW President Tony Khan would make this match official, MJF said he would no-show at Forbidden Door 2 if that happens.
Despite this statement from MJF, AEW went on to announce MJF vs Tanahashi for AEW World Championship for the event. Tanahashi was also part of the AEW World title match last year at Forbidden Door where Jon Moxley defeated him to win the vacant title.
A collaboration effort from AEW & NJPW, Forbidden Door 2023 is scheduled to take place on June 25 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada. Apart from these matches, Kenny Omega vs Will Ospreay for IWGP US title and a singles match between Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada are made official for the show.
