Welcome to the live results blog for AEW & NJPW’s Forbidden Door 2023 PPV event that aired from Toronto, ON, Canada.
Big inter-promotional clashes were set for the show starting with Bryan Danielson and Kazuchika Okada where the bragging rights for Best Wrestler in the World was at stake. Kenny Omega defended IWGP US Heavyweight title against Will Ospreay as they clashed in a rematch. MJF vs Hiroshi Tanahashi AEW World title match opened the show.
Sanada defended IWGP World Championship against Jungle Boy Jack Perry. Orange Cassidy had to defend AEW International Championship in a fatal 4-way match against Daniel Garcia, Zack Sabre Jr. & Katsuyori Shibata. Toni Storm defended AEW Women’s Championship against Willow Nightingale. CM Punk clashed with legend Satoshi Kojima in the first-round match of 2023 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
The Elite vs Blackpool Combat Club rivalry continued with a 10-man tag team match where they got help from other stars from Japan. Chris Jericho, Minoru Suzuki & Sammy Guevara faced Sting, Darby Allin & Tetsuya Naito in a 6-man match. 4 matches were scheduled for Zero Hour pre-show including women’s Owen Hart Cup first-round match between Athena and Billie Starkz.

Renee Paquette and RJ City are in the ring and start off by discussing how to watch the show before going through the match card.
In the opening match, The Mogul Embassy(Swerve Strickland, Brian Cage Kon & Tanga Loa) defeated El Desperado, Trent Baretta, Chuck Taylor and Rocky Romero. Romero was pinned by Strickland after a double diving foot stomp.
Athena defeated Billie Starkz to advance to semifinal of 2023 women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
El Phantasmo defeated Stu Grayson via pinfall after hitting CRII.
Los Ingobernables de Japon (Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi, & BUSHI) defeated United Empire (Jeff Cobb, Kyle Fletcher, & TJP) in a tag team match via pinfall after Takagi hit TKP with Made in Japan.
MJF(c) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi – AEW World Championship
MJF mocks Tanahashi and the crowd as the bell rings. Tanahashi pushes him away after they lock up. MJF hits a kick to his knee and mimics his air guitar. A shoulder tackle from Tanahashi after a headlock. MJF runs out of the ring and gets back only after coward chants. He manages to drop Tanahashi on the ropes with a suplex. He puts on an abdomen stretch. He even tries to get himself disqualified before Tanahashi hits an armdrag to break free. Tanahashi hits some quick moves ending with a senton from the second rope to get a two-count. He goes to the top rope and hits a crossbody.
Tanahashi hits a scoop slam. Tanahashi throws MJF off the top. He gets to the top but MJF disturbs the ropes to trip him. MJF throws him across the ring. Tanahashi blocks heat sinker but MJF quickly hits a rolling elbow and shoulder breaker. MJF has also hurt his knee in that move. MJF calls Tanahashi a joke before kicking him on his face. Tanahashi starts to hulk up and no-sells MJF’s elbow shots. MJF rakes his eyes to counter. Tanahashi hits a dragon screw leg and then puts on Texas Cloverleaf.
MJF gets to the ropes to break it. Tanahashi hits a slingblade. He goes to the top again for High Fly Flow but MJF gets his knees up. MJF is also in a lot of pain after that counter. MJF brings in his title but the referee takes it away. Tanahashi rolls up MJF as he argues with the referee but the referee is busy in putting the title away. Tanahashi now argues with the referee. MJF pushes Tanahashi to back the referee in a corner and hits a punch with Dynamite Diamond Ring behind the referee’s back to get the pinfall.

CM Punk vs Satoshi Kojima – Round 1 of 2023 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament
Heavy boos for Punk as he enters. Kojima gets the first shot after the lock up. Punk puts on a side headlock. Kojima no-sells a shoulder tackle. He unleashes some quick punches, a hip toss and a shoulder tackle. Punk hits a kick to midsection and throws Kojima to the floor. Punk goes to the floor and hits a couple of chops. Kojima sends Punk over the barricade with a big chop of his own. Kojima breaks the countdown. Punk takes a shot before Kojima trips him on the apron. The crowd is firmly behind Kojima as he some punches. CM Punk hits a dropkick to stop his attack.
Punk hits a scoop slam before a leg drop. Kojima fires with punches. Punk puts him in the corner and gets his shots going from the second rope. Kojima blocks a submission with a rope break before Punk can put on the lock properly. Punk hits some corner lariats before a side slam to get a two-count. Punk hits a couple of chops before a Mangolian Chop. Punk misses a corner splash and Kojima lights hits him with machine gun chops. Kojima hits a running forearm. He hits an elbow drop from the top to get a two-count.
Kojima continues with punches before he hits a DDT. Punk counters and gets to the top. He also hits an elbow drop from the top. Punk puts on Anaconda Vice submission. Kojima hits shots at the back of his head to break the grip. Punk signals for GTS after hitting some chops. Kojima blocks it and hits Mangolian chops himself. He hits a Koji Cutter to get a two-count. Punk hits back with a lariat to get a close two-count. Punk hits more elbows and chops before Kojima blocks GTS once more. Kojima hits a brainbuster to get a near fall. Punk ducks a swing and nails a roundhouse kick. He hits GTS to get the pinfall.

Orange Cassidy(c) vs Katsuyori Shibata vs Zack Sabre Jr. & Daniel Garcia – 4-way match for AEW International Championship
Cassidy hits lazy kicks to all the opponents. All of them pass on his leg before he sends Sabre into Shibata. Garcia is also sent to the floor and hits a suicide dive. Shibata kicks at Garcia when he fights Cassidy in the ring. Sabre comes in and hits a kick to Shibata to stop his move on Cassidy. Garcia, Shibata and Sabre start fightig each other and trade punches and chops. Shibata and Sabre drop Garcia. Garcia hits back with a dropkick when they start to punch each other.
All 4 men are down after kicks to each other. Shibata and Sabre puts on abdominal stretch on Garcia and Cassidy at the same time before they are fighting each other. They take turn to hit suplexes on each other. Cassidy hits stundog millionaire and tornado DDT on Garcia to get a close team. Sabre works on his arm after pulling him to the apron. Cassidy slams hits Sabre’s arm into the ringpost. Garcia runs over Shibata with ROH title but Shibata kicks out of the pin. Shibata no-sells punches from Garcia and slams him into the corner. Cassidy and Shibata get into the ring and sit down to trade chest slaps.
Cassidy nails Orange punch but hurts his injured arm also. Shibata hits a forearm. Cassidy hits Beach Break for a near fall. Sabre comes in and stomps on Cassidy’s arm a couple of times. Sabre puts on crossface on Cassidy. Garcia attacks him but is quickly sent to the floor. Shibata puts on a choke when Sabre goes the submission on Cassidy. After some break and forth, Sabre puts on European clutch but Garcia breaks it. Shibata hits PK on Garcia. Cassidy throws Shibata out and gets a pinfall on Garcia via backslide.

Sanada(c) vs Jungle Boy Jack Perry – IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
They lock up and Sanada pushes Perry to the ropes. A clean break up before locking up once again. Sanada drops Perry. Perry rolls through on an armdrag. Perry puts on the snear trapp but Sanada gets to the ropes quickly. Sanada hits a big dropkick to send Perry to the floor. Perry comes in and hits a dropkick to send Sanada to the floor. Perry hits a suicide dive and gets a two-count back in the ring. They trade chops in the ring. Perry kicks away Sanada when he goes for Paraside lock. Sanada also kicks Perry away before putting the Paraside lock. He hits a dropkick to get a two-count.
Perry hits some chops but Sanada drops him with a big chop himself. Sanada hits a high boot before Perry hits a dropkick. They trade clotheslines before Perry hits Tiger Driver to get a two-count. Sanada hits a dragon screw leg to drop Perry. They trade punches and chops for a while. Some uppercuts also from both sides. Perry gets a two-count with a backslide. Perry counters to put on Skull End. Sanada gets his legs on the ropes to break it.
Sanada hits TKO to get a two-count. Sanada misses a moonsault but lands on his feet. Perry hits a reverse hurricanrana but Sanada quickly comes back to swing him around in inverted DDT position. Sanada hits shining wizard to get a near fall. Sanada hits moonsault press from the top to get the pinfall.

Hook picks up Perry after the match and walks to the stage with them. Perry suddenly hits Hook with clothesline. He picks up Hook’s title and throws it on him.
Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita & Shota Umino vs Adam Page, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Eddie Kingston & Tomohiro Ishii
Eddie asks to start against Claudio but it is Umino who starts on the opposite side. Page comes in for a back and forth start with Umino. Ishii comes in for a double tackle with Page on Umino. Takeshita comes in and trade forearms with Ishii. Matt and Nick come in to double team on Takeshita with quick moves. Eddie and Moxley get the tags and have a face-off. They trade stiff chops for a while. Others get invovled but Eddie and Moxley keep hitting each other with chops. The Elite send their opponents to the floor and hit them with dives.
Claudio gets a blind tag and tackles Eddie to break their series of chops. Claudio hits European Uppercuts in the corner. Eddie hits back with a chop but Claudio drops him. The heels have cut the ring in half with quick tags. Takeshita takes a cheap shot at Ishii and he is down in the ring. Umino kicks at Eddie’s face for a while before hitting a neckbreaker. Eddie drops Claudio with a lariat. Moxley comes in to block his tag out. Eddie and Moxley trade lariats next. Ishii and Umino get the tags. Ishii runs rampant with tackles and more shots on Umino and Yuta. He hits a brainbuster on Claudio.
More back and forth action continues. Hangman and Takeshita fight for a while. Hangman sends Takeshita to his corner and brings in The Young Bucks. Bucks batter Takeshita with double team moves. Takeshita avoids BTE Trigger and Bucks’ knees clash into each other. Takeshita hits German suplexes on Bucks before Bucks come back with superkick party on other opponents. Eddie pushes Moxley away from superkicks though. Moxley hits a lariat on Nick while Takeshita hits Matt with a powerbomb. The heels keep control until Nick saves Matt from a double team move. Ishii tags in and hits superplex on Yuta.
Yuta hits a gamengiri on Ishii. Eddie pulls Claudio down the apron and sends him into the ringpost. Everyone starts to hit big moves one by one in the ring. Moxley hits Eddie with a cutter. The Young Bucks hit double superkick on Moxley. Yuta hits a German suplex on Hangman. Ishii runs over Yuta with a clothesline and then hits sheer drop brainbuster to get the pinfall.

Toni Storm(c) vs Willow Nightingale – AEW Women’s Championship
Willow pushes Toni to the ropes before Toni switches to a waistlock. Toni rolls to the floor as Willow switches it quickly. Toni rolls up Willow for a two-count. Willow hits a big tackle before quick counters and a scoop slam. Willow hits back splashes in the corner before a dropkick. Toni rolls to the floor again. Saraya and Ruby blocks Willow’s way and she beats them up. Toni catches her with a hip attack on the apron. Saraya and Ruby kick at Willow on the floor while the referee was distracted by Toni. Toni rakes Willow’s face into the barricade before she takes the action back to the ring.
More cheap shots from Saraya while the referee is distracted. Toni puts on a Full Nelson lock. Willow overpowers her and Toni hits her an elbow to her back. Willow hits a Samoan drop. Both women are down now. Willow hits a back splash and a clothesline. She hits a Death Valley Driver on the apron next. She hits another Death Valley Driver in the ring but Toni kicks out of the pin. Willow misses a moonsault off the top. Toni hits a hip attack and a DDT to get a two-count.
Toni kicks at her face a few times to frustrate her. Willow starts to hulk up and hits a big spinebuster. Willow puts on Indian Deathlock. Toni hits chops at her chest but Willow hits more chops in reply while keeping the lock on. Toni attacks the injured knee to break it finally. Willow hits a big tackle. Toni rolls out of the ring in momentum. Willow hits a back splash and a few clotheslines in the corner. Toni gets the referee in front of her as Willow was charging. She rakes Willow’s eyes behind the referee and hits Storm Zero to get the pinfall.

Kenny Omega(c) vs Will Ospreay – IWGP US Heavyweight Championship
They start with countering headlocks from each other. Ospreay snaps his arm. Kenny gets his head trapped with his knee. Ospreay tries to get out but Kenny is quick to take a shot at him in the process. Ospreay hits some big chops. Both men block cutters from each other. Ospreay lands on his feet on a suplex. Ospreay hits a snap suplex but Kenny is quick to recover. Ospreay flicks at Kenny’s eyes. Ospreay hits big chops. Omega comes back with a hurricanrana. Ospreay also hits hurricanrana but Omega lands on his feet and hits a moonsault. Ospreay rolls to the floor.
Omega looks for a suicide dive but Don Callis picks his leg. The referee boots Callis to backside. Ospreay hits a diving forearm on Omega before whipping him into the steel steps and then sends him into the ring post. Ospreay hits a backbreaker. He hits some kicks to the face. They trade big chops before hitting at the knee. Ospreay hits a suplex next. Omega hits body shot. Ospreay hits an uppercut. He puts on an abdominal stretch. Omega counters with an armdrag. He hits a skull crusher, a kick to the back and a flat liner.
Ospreay blocks a move. Omega hits him with chops. Ospreay hits 1-2 kick befores an enzuigiri. Ospreay sets him up on the ropes and hits shooting star press. He hits Oscutter on the apron next. Ospreay slams Omega’s face into the announce table despite Omega’s attempt to block it. Ospreay removes the table cover and sends Omega’s face through it. Omega is bleeding on his forehead. Back to the ring, Ospreay hits several shots despite the referee trying to stop him. Omega starts to fight back with punches but Ospreay drops him with a big shot.
Ospreay hits V-Tigger next. Ospreay snatches the Canadian flag and insults it. Omega runs him over with a clothesline. Omega wraps the flag around his neck and uses it to toss him around the ring. Omega hangs Ospreay from the ropes using that flag. Omega hits V-Tigger against the barricade. Omega slams Ospreay’s head on the steel steps. Ospreay is also bleeding now. Omega hits a DDT on the steel steps next. In the ring, Omega puts on an arm triangle. Ospreay overpowers him and hits a powerbomb. Ospreay hits a German suplex. Omega fires back with one of his own. Omega hits a V-Tigger but Ospreay comes back with a Spanish Fly.
Ospreay puts on sharpshooter now. Ospreay lets it go after a while and puts on a crossface. Omega rolls through but Ospreay reverses it quickly to keep the crossface on. Omega finally gets his face onto the ropes to break the move. Ospreay hits kicks to the face. Omega fires punches but Ospreay hits a headbutt. Ospreay hits more shots. Ospreay goes for Oscutter but Omega counters with a V-Trigger. Omega hits snap dragon suplexes. Ospreay blocks the next one but Omega hits a knee strike, a German suplex and hurricanrana.
Omega hits neckbreaker next. He hits a V-Trigger in the corner. Omega goes Onw-Winged Angel from the top but Ospreay slips out and hits a superkick against the turnbuckle. Ospreay hits sky twister press from the top rope to the floor. Ospreay hits a stomp from the top. Omega ducks Hidden Blade. Some back and forth before Ospreay hits a knee. Ospreay hits Oscutter to get a near fall. Omega blocks Stormbreaker and drops Ospreay on his head.
Don Callis has returned to the ramp now. Omega hits driving knee strike. Omega hits another ripcord knee strike while looking towards Callis. Omega gets ready for V-Trigger but Callis gets up on the apron and grabs Ospreay. Omega hits V-Trigger regardless. Callis tries to pull Ospreay out and hands Ospreay a screwdriver when the referee tries to deal with him. Ospreay blocks One Winged Angel with screwdriver shot. Ospreay hits hidden blade and Stormbreaker but Omega gets his legs on the ropes to break the pinfall.
Ospreay hits some knee strikes but Omega kicks out at one. They trade shots before Omega hits a knee and a brainbuster. Ospreay blocks One-Winged Angel and Omega has to switch to a bridging German suplex for a two-count. Omega hits a V-Trigger but Ospreay blocks One-Winged Angel again and hits Tiger Driver 91. Ospreay hits Hidden Blade and Stormbreaker to get the pinfall.

Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki vs Sting, Darby Allin & Tetsuya Naito
Sammy starts against Naito. They duck each other before Naito hits a big boot. Sammy hits a corkscrew dropkick. Sammy poses in the rig. Naito sends him to the floor and mimics Sammy’s pose. Naito hits an armdrag, a back elbow and a dropkick. Darby and Suzuki tag in. Darby hits a big forearm to stagger Suzuki. Suzuki hits back and they trade forearms until Suzuki drops Darby with a big forearm. Darby gets up and hits an overhead chop. Suzuki hits slaps him in answer. Suzuki catches Darby in a choke but Darby counters with a pin attempt. Darby tags in Suzuki. Jericho screams at Suzuki to tag him in. Suzuki thinks about it but finally tags in Jericho.
Jericho and Sting circle the ring but Sammy and Suzuki get into the ring to start a brawl. Sting and Jericho are the ones left in the ring and trade shots. Jericho misses the corner splash and Sting puts him in a sharpshooter. Sammy breaks it with a senton. Sammy and Jericho hits a double team shoulder tackle. Suzuki joins them to pose in the middle of the ring. Sammy hits punches in the corner from the second ropes. Sting picks him up and drops him face-first into the turnbuckles. Darby tags in and hits quick punches before a sunset flip to get a two-count. Sammy hits a Spanish fly off the top rope to get a two-count.
Sammy misses the corner splash and Darby hits an overhead kick. Naito and Jericho get the tags. Naito knocks off Suzuki before hitting a hurricanrana on Jericho. He hits a neckbreaker next. Jericho blocks a move but Naito hammers him with elbows. Jericho puts on a choke before other members also apply the same to other opponents. Jericho and Suzuki are thrown to the floor. Darby hits a suicide dive on Suzuki. Jericho counters Darby’s dive with Judas Effect. Sting is sent into the barricade next. Jericho sets up a table at ringside. Sammy argues with him but Jericho forces him to hit a senton to put Sting through the table.
Naito gets his knees up on lionsault. Jericho blocks Destino but Sting comes in puts on Sharpshooter on Jericho. Suzuki puts on a choke on Sting. Naito hits a low dropkick on Suzuki to break it. Jericho hits Codebreaker on Naito for a near fall. Suzuki tags in and hits running boot in the corner before a penalty kick on Naito. Sting breaks the choke from Suzuki and double teams with Naito for some quick action. Sting knocks off Jericho and Naito rolls up Suzuki to get the pinfall.

Jericho hits Naito with baseball bat after the match. Sting snatches it away from him and hits Jericho with the baseball bat.
Kazuchika Okada vs Bryan Danielson
The action starts with some quick switches of locks. They locks up before Bryan slips down and picks Okada’s leg. He goes for the Romero special but Okada blocks it. Bryan slams his face into the mat instead. Okada puts on a headlock and hits a shoulder tackle. They duck clotheslines from each other before Okada hits a back elbow to drop Bryan. He hits a snapmare and a running dropkick to send Bryan to the floor. Okada whips Bryan into the barricade and hits a high boot to put him over. Bryan slams Okada’s shoulders into the ring post.
Bryan hits a suicide dive to send Okada’s arm into the announce table. Bryan hits a diving knee strike next. Bryan sends Okada into the ringpost once to send his shoulder into it. Back to the ring, Bryan hits hammer elbow strikes. Bryan puts him in cattle mutilation breifly. Bryan kicks at the tricep before hitting some chops and sidekicks in the corner. Okada gets angry and starts no-selling them. Okada fires a forearm but it hurts him also due to an injury. Okada hits a flapjack.
Okada runs over Bryan a couple of times before a big boot to drop Bryan. Okada hits a DDT to get a two-count. Bryan blocks Air Raid crash and gets to the top. Okada hits him a dropkick to knock Bryan off the top. Bryan counters a whip to send Okada into the barricade. Okada hits a back body drop to send Bryan into the crowd before jumping on him with a crossbody. Okada puts on the Money Clip when they return to the ring.
Bryan pushes him to the corner to break it. Okada comes back with an Air Raid crash neckbreaker. Bryan goes for a landslide off the top but Bryan hits him with hammer elbow to block it. Bryan hits a missile dropkick next. Bryan hits European uppercuts. Okada also replies with the same. They trade more uppercuts. They counters each other before Okada hits shotgun dropkick. Bryan hits a German suplex. Bryan hits a couple of running dropkicks in the corner before Okada hits one of his own. Bryan ducks the Rainmaker but Okada catches him with another dropkick.
Okada goes for diving stomp from the top but Bryan turns it into an armbar. Bryan transitions it into a crossface. Okada gets his leg to the ropes to force the break. Bryan kicks to the floor. Okada avoids a suicide dive but Bryan ducks the Rainmaker and hits Busaika knee. Bryan hits Yes kicks before Okada ducks one and hits a piledriver on the ramp. Bryan beats the countdown. Okada hits an elbow drop from the top. He signals for the rainmaker but Bryan has started complusing and a doctor is brought in. Okada picks him up but Bryan was playing ruse and hits him with a knee.
Okada hammers some shots. He ducks a clothesline and hits Busaika knee for a near fall. Bryan hits kicks to his face before hitting a roundhouse kick. Bryan gets ready for Busaika knee once again but Okada hits him with a dropkick. Okada hits landslide and The Rainmaker but Bryan kicks out. Bryan ducks the Rainmaker and Okada also ducks Busaika knee. Bryan puts on the Labell lock. He keeps Okada under pressure for a long time before he turned it into Rings of Saturn. Okada tries to get his legs to the ropes but Bryan hits his face with knee strikes. Bryan puts more pressure on Rings of Saturn to get the submission.

Bryan closes the show with posing in the corner.
