AEW Dynamite Results March 20, 2024, Updates, Highlights
AEW Dynamite March 20, 2024 episode saw Kazuchika Okada challenging Eddie Kingston for AEW Continental Championship. The main event match was an I Quit match between Chrisitian Cage and Adam Copeland for TNT Championship.
Toni Storm and Mariah May faced Thunder Rosa & Mariah May. Chris Jericho faced Hook, and Swerve Strickland issued an open challenge as he looked for a World title shot at Dynasty 2024. Tune in below for results from AEW Dynamite March 20, 2024 episode.
RESULTS & UPDATES
Mercedes Mone came out to open the show. She said she was here to start a global women’s Revolution before she played a vignette to get everyone familiar with her. She brought up having a history with Willow Nightingale. The lights went out, and Julia Hart & Skye Blue tried to attack Mercedes. Mercedes gets the better of them before Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander come out to help her out. The lights went out once again before coming back on. Willow Nightingale was about to hit Mercedes with a chair before she snapped out of her trance.
Alex Marvez interviewed The Elite backstage. Okada said he was coming for Kingston’s title. The Young Bucks said they would be on commentary as his personal producers.
Kazuchika Okada defeated Eddie Kingston(c) to win AEW Continental Championship. PAC came out and teased targeting Okada.
Renee Paquette interviewed Swerve Strickland backstage where Swerve said he was inspired by Mike Tyson’s training footage for his upcoming boxing match, and issued an open challenge.
Renee was interviewing Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale backstage when Mercedes Mone interrupted them. There was some tension between Mercedes and Statlander as they shook hands. Nightingale tried to speak to Mercedes but Mercedes cut her off.
Hook defeated Chris Jericho in a singles match. Jericho broke out of RedRum but Hook quickly rolled him up to get the pinfall.
Adam Cole was sitting in a chair backstage and told Wardlow that he was upset at him for not being able to win AEW World Championship. Cole told Wardlow to help the other members of the faction in retaining their titles as a punishment.
Chris Jericho told Renee Paquette backstage that Hook had earned his respect by beating him. He has a proposition for Hook which he would reveal next week.
Will Ospreay came out for an interview in the ring with Tony Schiavone. Ospreay brought up Bryan Danielson’s comments that Ospreay could not walk in Danielson’s shoes. Ospreay said he was a big star in Japan which Danielson was only able to dream. Ospreay said he could not walk in Danielson’s shoes as they are too small for him. And, he would prove it by beating Katsuyari Shibata next week on Dynamite.
Thunder Rosa & Deonna Purrazzo defeated Toni Storm & Mariah May in a tag team match. Purrazzo was upset at Rosa for a blind tag in the final part of the match. May and Purrazzo were cleared from the ring before Toni hit a hip attack on Rosa. Rosa quickly countered Toni with a victory roll to get the pinfall.
Swerve Strickland defeated The Butcher in a singles match. This turned out to be a short match with Swerve coping with Butcher’s power quickly to hit him with House Call to get the pinfall.
After the match, Swerve called out AEW World Champion Samoa Joe. Joe came out and concluded that the only way to shut down people like Swerve is to beat them. Don Callis came out to interrupt them and pointed out that Konosuke Takeshita is also unbeaten outside of Don Callis family. Callis challenged Swerve to face Takeshita. The match was made official for next week on Dynamite.
Adam Copeland defeated Christian Cage(c) in an “I Quit” match to win AEW TNT Championship. Shayna Wayne got involved in the match by hitting a low blow on Copeland using an ice hockey stick. Killswitch and Nick Wayne came out to help Christian, but Daniel Garcia and Matt Menard also ran out to counter him. Killswitch and Wayne were locked in handcuffs in the corner. Copeland did the same to Christian also before hitting him with several low blows. He brought out “the Spike” and used it for low blows, but Cage refused to say “I Quit”. Finally, he accepted defeat when Copeland tried to hit the spike on his head.
