Welcome to the Live Results blog for AEW Dynamite September 14, 2022 episode which will feature two matches for Grand Slam Tournament of World Champions.

In first of these matches, Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson will clash in a rematch just 10 days after their match at AEW All Out. The winner of this match will go on to face the winner between Jon Moxley and Sammy Guevara in AEW World Championship match next week at Grand Slam.

Build-up for Grand Slam special will continue. AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm will team up with Hikaru Shida to take on Britt Baker and Serena Deeb. We might hear from AEW Tag Team Champions Swerve in Our Glory as they prepare to defend the title against The Acclaimed.

  • Jungle Boy defeated Jay Lethal in a singles match via submission.

Jon Moxley vs Sammy Guevara – Grand Slam Tournament of World Champions

Sammy leaves the ring for some mind games just as the bell rings. He returns after a few seconds to lock up with Mox. Moxley puts on a side headlock and takes him to the mat. Sammy avoids a couple of pin attempts. Sammy ducks a big swing in the corner and hits Mox with chops and stomps. Moxley explodes out of the corner with a big lariat. They trade chops and chest slaps before changing to forearms. Sammy sends Mox to the floor and hits him with couple of suicide dives. He throws Mox into the steel steps. He stomps on Mox’s face against the steps. We cut to a break.

They are on the apron as we return. Moxley hits a bulldog on the apron. Mox returns to the ring but Sammy takes a while to break the referee’s count. Mox hits corner clotheslines. He sets up Sammy on the top turnbuckle and hits him with chops. Mox hits a butterfly superplex after biting and scratching his back. Mox goes for a kimura. Sammy counters with Boston Crab. Mox kicks him to corner. Sammy hits an enzuigiri and double jump springboard cutter to get a near fall. Moxley suddenly puts on bulldog choke before moving to hit elbows to neck and shoulder.

Sammy counters a clothesline into a standing Spanish Fly for a near fall. Sammy goes to the top and Moxley hits him with an Avalanche German Suplex. Both men are down. Tay Melo and Anna JAS come out as the referee was counting down. Tay distracts the referee and Anna hits a low blow. Sammy rolls up Moxley but he kicks out of the pin. Sammy misses senton atomico. Mox gets a near fall with seatbelt pin attempt. Moxley hits several punches. Sammy hits a jumping knee and superkick. Moxley counters GTS with Deathrider to get the pin.

Winner – Jon Moxley

MJF is asking for a microphone backstage as we cut to a break. He comes out to the ring. He is in a bad mood as he gets his music cut. He addresses Moxley and says he is not the 2020 version of MJF. He brings up Moxley’s biography and his childhood days, being bullied. MJF says that is the reason why Moxley plays a tough character here. He takes shot at Moxley for his drinking addiction in the past. But, he warns Moxley to take a vacation and go away before trying to win his AEW title. MJF calls himself a Deamon that Moxley can’t slay. MJF then brings up how Stokeley Hathway’s stable helped him with Casino Ladder match. He introduces Stokeley and his stable “The Firm.”

The Firm comes out and Stokeley takes the mic. He brings up how he met MJF before Double or Nothing and told him not to leave AEW. Stokeley then reveals how he recruited this stable on retainer and they can go their separate ways when MJF no longer require them. Stokeley says he is not a publicist or a manager, but he is friend. Everything he has done since Double or Nothing has been a con, and everything has been a plan. Stokeley then moves on to talk to each member of the stable. He tells W Morrisey that he loves him. He calls for Lee Moriarty to get a shot at ROH Pure title. For Gunn Club, he wants an AEW tag title shot. For Ethan Page, he asks for All Atlantic Championship.


We get to know that Jungle Boy wants to prepare for Luchasaurus and has signed an open contract to face Jay Lethal.

Jungle Boy vs Jay Lethal

Lethal takes JB to the corner after the lock up. JB hits him with a slap to start a back and forth. Lethal counters an armdrag. JB hits springboard into an armdrag and hits a kick to get the crowd going. JB counters a figure four with a cradle. He counters sharpshooter with jacknife. He punches Lethal off the apron but his suicide dive is blocked by Satnam Singh. Lethal comes back and meets Jungle Boy on the top turnbuckle. Lethal drops JB on the turnbuckle as we cut to a break.

Jungle Boy hits a clothesline as we return. They trade shots now. JB blocks Lethal’s shots and hits jumping forearm. His back gives up when he goes for a brainbuster. Lethal goes for Lethal Injection but JB hits him with a lariat and sheer drop brainbuster for a near fall. Lethal rolls to the corner. JB sets him up on the top. Lethal slips away and brings him down with Russian Leg Sweep to get a two-count. JB blocks Lethal Injection.

Lethal counters kill switch with Lethal combination. He hits a suicide dive on the outside and a double stomp from the top to get a near fall. Jungle Boy puts on snear trap. Lethal drags to the corner. JB punches Sonjay Dutt off the apron. Lethal gets a two-count with O’Connor roll-up. Jungle Boy puts on Snear Trap again and gets the submission.

Winner – Jungle Boy

We get a video package of Hook and Action Bronson’s training session.


Alex Marwez is backstage and he brings in Luigi Primo. Ethan Page drops Primo with a big boot. Danhausen comes in and Page challenges him for a match at Rampage this week.


We get a video package performing a stunt in a bike show. Matt Hardy gets a video promo giving him props for doing extreme things. He challenges Darby for a match at Rampage as he puts his focus back to in-ring action.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs Matt Demartino

Hobbs pushes Matt to the corner and hits a clothesline. He hits a spinebuster in the middle of the ring to get the pin.

Winner – Powerhouse Hobbs

Hobbs takes the mic and brings up how he defeated Ricky Starks in a short match at All Out, and now he wants to start a new chapter. Ricky Starks walks down the stairs through the crowd. He gets past security and starts unloading on Hobbs with lefts and rights. He then hits Hobbs with a mic. Hobbs runs away from the ring to avoid more attack.


We get a video package for AEW Tag Team Championship between Swerve in Our Glory and Lucha Bros.

Swerve in Our Glory(Keith Lee & Shane “Swerve” Strickland) vs Lucha Bros(Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) – AEW World Tag Team Championship

Swerve and Penta start with some back and forth. Penta hits a kick to midsection as Swerve was going for handspring. Fenix tags in and hits a missile dropkick. Penta drops Fenix on Swerve. Swerve comes back with headscissors from the second rope on Fenix. Lee tags in to trade shots with Fenix. Lee drops him with a big overhand chop.

Swerve had Fenix in a lock. Fenix breaks free but Swerve stops the tag. Fenix hits a springboard kick and tags in Penta. Penta hits a backstabber on Swerve and a slingblade on Lee. Fenix hits a superkick on Swerve. Lee catches his dive and throws him into Penta to break the pin. Swerve blocks Fear Factor. Lee hits a shoulder tackle on Penta and a backbreaker on Fenix. Penta hits calf kicks on Lee to save Fenix for double team. Fenix hits a Spanish Fly from the top on Swerve. Penta hits Canadian Destroyer on Lee to get a near fall. Swerve pushes Fenix off the top and Lee hits Penta with powerslam to get the pin.

Winner – Swerve in Our Glory

After the match, The Acclaimed come out. Caster warns Swerve never to interrupt his rap again. They hype their title match next week at Grand Slam.


PAC gets mad at Alex Marwez and rants a bit until Orange Cassidy drops him with Orange Punch. Cassidy takes the mic and says PAC will not be a double champion for long.


Athena joins Toni Storm for a pre-recorded promo taking shots at Britt Baker. Athena is replacing Hikaru Shida in tag team match.

Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida vs Britt Baker & Serena Deeb

Deeb and Storm start the match. Grappling counters from both women for a while! Deeb hits chops in the corner. Storm fires back with chops of her own. Athena tags in after Storm hits a body slam. Athena htis a springboard splash to get a two-count. An elbow strike in the corner before dropping Deeb onto her knees. Baker runs a distraction and Deeb takes advantage to slam Athena’s leg into the apron. We cut to a break.

Athena hits an enzuigiri as we return. Storm gets a tag and hits dropkicks on both opponents. He hits a running uppercut on Baker before hitting a suicide dive on both opponents on the floor. Baker comes back with a slingblade in the ring. Athena and Deeb tag in. Deeb hits an uppercut before Athena hits several forearm shots. Deeb puts him in an armlock. Athena counters with a pin attempt.

Athena drops her and tags in Storm. Deeb counters Storm’s crossbody and puts on Serenity lock. Athena tries to break it but Baker hits him with a superkick. Baker hits a superkick to Storm and Deeb goes for a jacknife cover. Athena breaks the pin with a senton. Baker takes Athena to the floor and hits her with a dive. Rebel distracts the referee. Baker puts a steel chair in the corner for Deeb to slam Storm into it. Deeb rolls up Storm and gets the pin.

Winner – Britt Baker & Serena Deeb

After the match, Athena gets into the ring to save Storm from further attack. Baker hits Athena with curbstomp. Baker gets a chair into the ring. Jamie Hayter runs into the ring and takes the chair from Baker. She goes on hits Storm with that chair. Baker tries to apologize to Hayter but and she leaves quickly.

Chris Jericho vs Bryan Danielson – Grand Slam Tournament of World Champions Match

Bryan ducks a clothesline and hits chops and kicks to the chest. Bryan brings down Jericho to his knees, whips him from corner to corner and a missile dropkick. Jericho starts to hit back with his chops. Bryan hits another dropkick. Jericho hits a shoulder tackle before Bryan throws him to the floor and hits him with a basement slide dropkick. Bryan hits a running knee on the floor. Bryan continues to work on the apron now. He hits another missile dropkick and diving headbutt to get a close two-count.

Jericho comes back with double knees. He sends Bryan to the floor and hits a lionsault. Bryan moves to the floor and Jericho unloads on him for a while. They return to the ring now. Bryan gets mad when Jericho slaps him. They start to trade chops. This continues for a while. Jericho ducks Bryan attack and they collide in the middle with crossbody. We cut to a break.

Jericho hits a hurricanrana from the top turnbuckle as we return. Bryan hits a German suplex bridge to get a two-count. Bryan puts on the Cattle Mutilation. Jericho struggles but Bryan has to change his move. Bryan hits elbows to neck and shoulder. Jericho returns the favor with elbow shots of his own. Bryan starts to no-sell those shots. Bryan gets back to his feet. They trade chops. Bryan hits calf kicks. Jericho hits codebreaker.

Bryan immediately fires back with Busaiku knee. Both men are down in the middle. Jericho gets up using the ropes. They trade chops now as Jericho is on the apron. Jericho hits a suplex to drop Bryan to the floor. Bryan’s ankle is hurt. The referee calls out a doctor to check on Bryan. Jericho is not having it and he attacks the leg some more. He works on Bryan using the ring post. He has removed Bryan’s boot. He hits a chop block as they return to the ring, and follows it with a knee breaker.

Bryan blocks the second kneebreaker. Bryan hits several elbows. Jericho counters by putting Liontamer. He has to change it into a single leg after a while. Bryan starts to hulk up. Jericho brings him back to the center and changes the move. Bryan kicks him into the turnbuckle and gets a two-count with a rana pin. Jericho hits a dragon screw and then locks in figure four. They trade punches while Jericho still had the lock on. Bryan puts on the labell lock. Bryan puts more pressure on it and gets a tap out from Bryan.

Winner – Bryan Danielson

Jon Moxley comes out to the ring after the match. Bryan and Moxley face off in the middle of the ring.
