MMA Journalist Nolan King reported on March 20, 2024 that UFC had applied for event permits for event at UFC Apex Arena on June 15.

Journalist Marcel Dorff reported on March 21, 2024 that Alex Perez would fight Tagir Ulanbekov in a flyweight bout on June 15. This was the first bout to be reported for the event. The bout was in jeopardy for a while as Alex Perez took a short-notice fight to face Matheus Nicolau in the main event of UFC Vegas 91 event on April 27, 2024. Perez won that fight via second-round knockout. Tatsuro Taira was reported to face Joshua Van in another flyweight bout at this event. In May, the bout was rearranged as Taira was booked to headline the event against Perez while Van was booked against Ulanbekov instead. Ulanbekov ended up missing weight by 3.5 lbs which led to Ulanbekov vs Van getting canceled.

Julia Polastri and Josefine Lindgren Knutsson were earlier booked to clash at UFC Vegas 87 in March 2024. Knutsson pulled out of the bout with an injury. The bout was later rebooked for this event.

A heavyweight bout between Andrei Arlovski and Martin Buday was scheduled for this event but it was later moved to UFC 303.

Andre Muniz vs Ikram Aliskerov middleweight bout was announced as the co-main event. Two weeks before the event, Muniz pulled out of the bout with unknown reasons. Antonio Trócoli came in as the replacement. However, Aliskerov was later moved to UFC Saudi Arabia to replace Khamzat Chimaev in the main event against Robert Whittaker.
