Bellator presented Bellator 298 on August 11, 2023, from Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD.

Logan Storley was set to face Brennan Ward as he attempted to bounce back from a loss against Yaroslov Amavov in the welterweight title bout at Bellator 291. That was just his second loss in MMA career, and both had come against Amavov.

Ward was on a 3-fights winning streak since returning to the octagon in 2022, and defeated Brandon Bell at Bellator 274, Kassius Kane at Bellator 281 and Sabah Homasi at Bellator 290.

Valentin Moldavsky and Steve Mowry fought in a rematch in a heavyweight bout after the first bout ended in a no-contest. Dalton Rosta vs Aaron Jeffery middlweight bout and James Gallagher vs James Gonzalez featherweight bout were also on the main card which started at 10 PM ET.
