Welcome to the live results blog for WWE SmackDown episode of December 1, 2023, which was live from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Randy Orton was set for an appearance on the show after an invitation from General Manager Nick Aldis. Aldis and RAW GM Adam Pearce offered Orton with exclusive contracts for each brands. Which brand did Orton choose?

Apart from this, Logan Paul appeared on the show for the first time since becoming United States Champion and announced the tournament to identify his next challenger. Kevin Owens and Grayson Waller will continue their rivalry with a singles match. We will also see the fallout from Survivor Series where Damage CTRL lost the War Games match.

Bianca Belair Wants Title Shot!

Bianca Belair comes out. We cut to a recap of women’s War Games match from Survivor Series last week. Bianca takes the mic talking about War Games match. She thanks Becky Lynch, Shotzi and Charlotte Flair for their contributions. But, her war with Damage CTRL is not over, and she is still going after Iyo Sky as she wants her title back. Iyo Sky’s music hits and Damage CTRL comes out. Only Bayley is not in the group. Dakota Kai is leading the group on the mic. Dakota tells us Iyo is saying that she has already beaten Bianca twice, she will need to go through the whole Damage CTRL first to get another title shot. Bianca is ready for it.

Charlotte Flair’s music hits and Shotzi accompanies her on her way out. Flair says Bianca is not the only one wanting that title shot. Flair and Shotzi get into the ring to start a brawl. Bianca, Flair and Shotzi beat up Damage CTRL easily and force them to leave.


The commentary team takes us through the card for tonight.


Kairi Sane vs Bianca Balair is announced by the commentary team. Bayley comes in to meet Damage CTRL and says no one told her about going out or the result would have been different. Dakota tells her that she should help Kairi to prepare for Bianca now.

Butch vs Bobby Lashley

Lashley takes the mic before the match and says when he told Butch to make a name, he did not meant to do it with him. Butch decks the mic off his hand. The bell rings and Butch jumps on Lashley to hit punches. Lashley throws him over his head. He hits a corner clothesline. He throws Butch into the turnbuckle a couple of times. Butch hits a boot from the corner before a dropkick to send Lashley to the floor. Butch hits a diving knee, and two moonsaults in quick succession on the floor. We cut to a break.

Lashley is in control as we return from the break. He has hit running tackle on the floor to take over. Lashley throws Butch across the ring. Butch blocks a delayed vertical suplex with knees but Lashley hits a one-handed spinebuster when he comes off the ropes. Lashley drives Butch into the ring post. Back to the ring, Butch avoids a spear and Lashley crashes into the turnbuckle.

Butch hits several enzuigiris and kicks. He hits a double stomp on Lashley’s arm before going for joint manipulation and a stomp to the elbow. Butch hits a sliced bread to get a two-count. Lashley picks him up and hits a running powerslam to get a near fall. Butch looks to create some momentum again, but Lashley hits a spear out of nowhere to get the pinfall.

We get a recap of men’s War Games match featuring Randy Orton’s return. Paul Heyman goes to SmackDown GM Nick Aldis and asks if Aldis invited Randy Orton to SmackDown. Aldis says he is going to sign Randy to SmackDown exclusively. Heyman asks if Roman Reigns knows about this. Aldis reads a memo saying all communication to Roman Reigns must go through Paul Heyman. So, consider this as communication to Roman, and he is willing to offer the entire Bloodline in order to get Randy to sign for SmackDown. He asks what will Heyman do to stop this. Heyman says, “anything”.


Butch is interviewed backstage about Ridge Holland abandoning him last week. Butch says he is not bothered about it, and wants to focus on his singles run now. Pretty Deadly comes in to mock him. Butch starts a fight with punches. But, Pretty Deadly easily handle him and throw him into the barricade.


We get a recap of Santos Escobar going off on Rey Mysterio, turning on LWO and attacking Carlito. He gets interviewed backstage and says he is only finishing what Mysterio started. His friends Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro are blinded with their love to their hero Rey Mysterio.

Santos Escobar vs Joaquin Wilde

Wilde starts with quick shots. Escobar is sent to the floor and gets hits with a crossbody. Escobar rolls to the floor once again after Wilde bring him back in. Wilde hits a suicide dive. Escobar catches him on his way back into the ring. Escobar keeps control with some strikes. Escobar pulls off his LWO vest. He puts on an elbow lock. Wilde breaks free and fires quick punches. He hits a DDT to get a two-count. Escobar cuts him off with a superkick and then hits Phantom Driver to get the pinfall.

Escobar beats up Wilde after the match. Dragon Lee runs out and Escobar rolls out of the ring. Lee checks on Wilde. Escobar tries to attack him from behind, but Lee hits him with punches and a dropkick. He hits a running dropkick against the turnbuckle. Escobar leaves the ring.


United States Champion Logan Paul meets GM Nick Aldis backstage.

Logan Paul – The US Champ

Logan Paul comes out to the ring and brags about his win. He says Rey Mysterio is out of action, so there can be no rematch. But, he has good news. Nick Aldis has created a tournament to find his next challenger. Santos Escobar, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, Dragon Lee, Austin Theory, Karrion Kross, Grayson Waller and one NXT superstar will be in it.

Kevin Owens comes out as his music hits. KO says Logan standing in WWE ring is a nightmare. He says it took him just 6 seconds on Vine to realize that he was unbearable. He claims that with him in the tournament, his days as US Champ are now numbered. Logan says while KO is called a prize fighter, he will just need one second to knock him out. They get into each other’s face before Grayson Waller’s music hits and he walks out with Austin Theory.

Waller says Logan need not engage with KO when the show has Theory and him, who are just like Logan. They get into the ring. Theory tries to mock KO over his punch, but KO shuts him up with a big punch to send Theory to the floor.

Kevin Owens vs Grayson Waller

Owens takes Waller to the floor immediately as the bell rings. He slams Waller’s face into the announce table and continues to beat him up. Waller catches him with a kick when he is returning to the ring. KO fires back and they get to the floor once again. Back to the ring, Waller cuts him off and hits some punches. Waller hits an elbow drop from the second rope. KO hits back with punches before turning a suplex around. KO goes for a cannonball, but he has to stop when Waller rolls to the floor.

Waller decks KO when he comes out to the floor. KO slams his face into the announce table and unloads with more punches. Waller pushes KO into the steel steps. Waller gets into the ring and Austin stomps on it on the steps. Waller slams the hand into the ring post. We cut to a break.

Owens hits a splash as we return, but he has also hurt his hand. Waller slams his face into the mat and continues to work. Owens hits punches to midsection and throws Waller to the floor. Waller drops his arm on the ropes. KO hits a kick to midsection before hitting a DDT. Owens is protecting his right arm during the moves. He hits chops with his left hand before a cannonball in the corner. Waller goes after the injured arm again and puts on an armbar.

Owens gets to the ropes. Waller puts his arm inside the turnbuckle but KO pulls it out when Waller goes to kick at it. Owens rolls up Waller to get the pinfall out of nowhere.

We get a recap of CM Punk’s return at Survivor Series and his promo on RAW.


Damage CTRL are backstage. Iyo Sky tells Bayley to stay back.

Kairi Sane vs Bianca Belair

Charlotte Flair and Shotzi are in Bianca’s corner. Damage CTRL minus Bayley are in Kairi’s corner. The bell rings and Bianca drops Kairi a couple of times. She lands on her feet when Kairi goes for a hurricanrana and hits a dropkick. Kairi blocks a powerslam and decks Bianca. Asuka pulls Bianca’s leg to allow Kairi to take over control. Charlotte does the same to Kairi, but the referee catches her.

The referee boots Flair and Shotzi from the ringside. Asuka gets into the ring when the referee was busy with Flair. Before Asuka can hit Bianca, the referee turns around to catch Asuka and boots Damage CTRL from the ringside also. Bianca hits a dropkick on Asuka. Kairi attacks Bianca to take us to a break.

Bianca breaks free of a submission, but misses a corner tackle. Kairi wraps Bianca’s arm around her throat in a rest hold. Bianca hits an armdrag to send her into the corner. Bianca hits back-to-back body slams. Bianca drops her a couple of more times before hitting a springboard moonsault to get a close two-count. She blocks a crossbody and tosses Kairi. Kairi hits her with a backfist. She follows up with double knees in the corner and a flying forearm from the top ropes to get a two-count.

Bianca goes for the Glam Slam but Kairi counters to send her to the floor. Bianca catches her and hits the Glam Slam into the barricade. Bayley comes out and trips Bianca on the apron. Kairi goes to the top rope, but Bianca recovers to pull him up to hit KOD to get the pinfall.

Orton on RAW or SmackDown?

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis and RAW GM Adam Pearce are in the ring. Aldis announces Randy Orton who comes out to a loud pop. Both Aldis and Pearce start to pitch to Orton to join their brands. Pearce promises him a shot at World Heavyweight Championship. Aldis promises him the Bloodline. Paul Heyman’s music hits and he comes out. Heyman says he has someone who can make Orton’s decision for him. Solo Sikoa’s music hits and he comes out with Jimmy Uso. Aldis and Pearce leave the ring. Orton tries to catch Solo and Jimmy on the ropes but they get in and double up on Orton to beat him down.

LA Knight’s music hits and he runs out. He unloads on Jimmy first. Solo fires back and they brawl to the floor and to the back. Orton recovers and hits a draping DDT and RKO. He stares down at Heyman on the floor before he gets the contracts from both Pearce and Aldis. Heyman screams at him to tell him to go to RAW. Orton throws away the RAW contract and signs SmackDown contract. He takes the mic and tells Heyman to go and tell Roman, “Daddy’s back”. Aldis comes back into the ring and raises Orton’s hands. Orton hits an RKO on him before hitting the corner pose. Heyman takes out his phone for a call. Orton closes the show as he continues to pose.
