WWE SmackDown episode of August 2, 2024, featured the final build-up for SummerSlam 2024 PLE along with two tag team titles matches.

It also featured two singles matches in Andrade vs Carmelo Hayes, and Santos Escobar vs Apollo Crews. Logan Paul featured in a homecoming segment. Check the complete results below.

RESULTS & UPDATES

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes came out to the ring to open the show. Solo Sikoa also came out after being called out by Cody. Cody went on to say that he sympathized with Solo’s ambition to be the face of the family. Sikoa cut him off saying he was running out of patience. Cody promised him that he would avenge Randy Orton & Kevin Owens with Solo’s blood just like he dealt with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Solo said he was not weak like Roman. Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Jacob Fatu came out to the ringside area. Solo then challenged Cody to a “Bloodline Rules Match”. Cody accepted the stipulation and added that he was not afraid of Fatu & Guerillas of Destiny. Solo claimed that The Bloodline would win the tag team titles tonight and then he would take the title from Cody also. Cody replied by saying since the real Tribal Chief was not here, he would settle by taking down for the wannabe Tribal Chief.

Carmelo Hayes was back to his Barbershop where he discussed his match against Andrade El Idolo and claimed to win their next match.

Andrade El Idolo defeated Carmelo Hayes in a singles match via Pinfall using O’Connor Roll.

Santos Escobar was shouting at fellow Legado Del Fantasma members – Angel Garza, Elektra Lopez & Berto Carrillo. He wanted the group to get back on track and it would start by taking care of Apollo Crews.

Santos Escobar defeated Apollo Crews in a singles match via pinfall after hitting the Phantom Driver.

Byron Saxton interviewed Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill backstage who claimed to regain the Women’s Tag Titles tonight against The Unholy Union and then, they would step on anyone who wanted to step up.

WWE United States Champion Logan Paul came to the ring for his homecoming segment in Cleveland, Ohio. Logan said the complaints of him not defending his title only twice were justified, but it was still more times than LA Knight would ever get to defend US title. Logan then unveiled a banner which had the word “YEAH” written on it. LA Knight then came out and mocked Logan. He went backstage to get another banner, but then took Logan’s PRIME car and leave the building.

After the break, Logan Paul went to Nick Aldis to complaing LA Knight taking away his car.

Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair defeated The Unholy Union(Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn)(c) in WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match via disqualification. Blair Davenport attacked Jade Cargill on the floor, after which the referee called for the DQ. The Unholy Union retained the title.

After the match, Fyre, Dawn and Davenport beat up Cargill on the floor before treating Bianca with the same in the ring.

A special vignette aired to preview Bayley vs Nia Jax match at WWE SummerSlam.

Nia Jax met Tiffany Stratton backstage to gift her a new pink theme custom Women’s Money In The Bank briefcase. Nia added one condition to give the briefcase to Tiffany – she should not cash it in at SummerSlam. Tiffany agreed. Nia left and Chelsea Green entered with Piper Niven. Green mocked Tiffany, but Tiffany replied that green was not her color.

The Bloodline(Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga) defeated #DIY(Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa)(c) to win WWE Tag Team Championship. After a back and forth match, Solo Sikoa took out Ciampa on the floor with The Samoan Spike. Gargano rallied alone in the final stretch before Jacob no-sold a poisonrana and hit back with a superkick, Usos Splash and Impaler DDT to get the pinfall.
