WWE Royal Rumble 2024 is upon us and the show has the most buzz in the last few years. Tropicana Field in St. Petersberg, FL, is set to hold the show on January 27, 2024. With at least two big contenders in both men and women Royal Rumble matches projected to win, the anticipation is high. What to expect from the event. Final Card
Just 4 matches are announced for this year’s Royal Rumble with two traditional Battle Royals. The other two are title matches. Here is the card:
- Roman Reigns(c) vs AJ Styles vs LA Knight vs Randy Orton – Fatal 4-way match for Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
- Logan Paul(c) vs Kevin Owens – WWE United States Championship
- 30 Men Royal Rumble
- 30 Women Royal Rumble
Preview & Prediction
Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns wanted to avoid a title defense at Royal Rumble and disrupted the #1 contender match. However, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis did not take it lightly and punished Roman by putting him to defend the title against all three contenders at the same time. While the odds may be against him, I still think Roman will retain the title here.
United States Championship Match: Logan Paul took a big step at Crown Jewel when he defeated Rey Mysterio to become United States Champion. As he was looking for his first worthy challenger, Kevin Owens won the top contender tournament to set up a clash at Royal Rumble. While KO is a big star himself and it would not be a big surprise if he beats Paul here, I would still expect Logan Paul to retain the title heading into WrestleMania.
Women’s Royal Rumble match: There are two real contender to win women’s Rumble match this year in Bayley and Becky Lynch. Bayley is currently on a slow burn with Damage CTRL preparing to turn on her while Becky is getting ready to mount a challenge against Rhea Ripley. Here, I would go with Bayley to win the Royal Rumble match.
Men’s Royal Rumble match: WWE has mainly projected 4 possible winners for men’s Rumble match in the build-up – Drew McIntyre as a darkhorse, Gunther due to his marathon performance last year, CM Punk due to his expected storyline with Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes due to his expected storyline against Roman Reigns. But if I need to pick one winner, I would predict CM Punk to win this match.
Rumors
Sonya Deville was reported to return to WWE TV in the women’s RR match. Sonya is out of action since August due to an ACL injury.
Andrade El Idolo/Andrade Cein Almas has reportedly signed back with WWE, but he is yet to appear in WWE once again. Will he appear at Royal Rumble?
Jade Cargill is reported to make her debut in women’s Rumble match. Will it be the case?
As per a report from Fightful Select, Brock Lesnar was earlier planned for the men’s RR match, but he is not expected to be in the match after allegations against him in the sexual harassment case against Vince McMahon.
Sasha Banks & Naomi are two names which are speculated to return to WWE with this show. Will it be the case?
