WWE NXT May 2, 2023: Dani Palmer Debut, Dolin vs Jayne 2 Set
WWE NXT has announced a stacked card for May 2, 2023 episode as 6 matches are made official including North American Championship match.
Wes Lee will defend NXT North American title against Drew Gulak next week. Lee successfully defended the title against Gulak’s protege Charlie Dempsey, but got attacked by Gulak and Dempsey. Gulak challenged Lee for the title match during this week’s NXT Spring Breakin’ 2023 special. Tyler Bate will be in Lee’s corner next week to assist him against outside interference, and will also give him meditation lessons prior to the match.
A grudge (re)match is also confirmed for next week as Gigi Dolin faces Jacy Jayne. Former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Jayne and Dolin’s rivalry started when Jayne turned on Dolin in February after they failed to win NXT Women’s Championship from Roxanne Perez at Vengeance Day. Dolin defeated Jayne in a singles match in March.
Jayne later cost Dolin the title match at Stand & Deliver when she attacked her on the ladder. Jayne took shots at Dolin last week over abandoning her brother. Dolin retorted at Jayne and said her brother would be in front row on May 2 episode when she would beat Jayne.
Joe Coffey and Joe Gacy will face off in a high-stakes singles match. With NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus not on the show tonight, Gacy confronted Coffey to accept a rematch against the Dyad on behalf of his stablemates in Gallus. When Coffey refused, Gacy challenged him for a singles match. The stipulation for the match is that if Gacy wins, The Dyad will get a rematch for tag team titles against Gallus. However, if Gacy loses, The Dyad cannot challenge for the title until Gallus are champions.
Axiom and Scrypts will finally clash in a singles match after weeks of Scrypts attempts to attack Axiom. Scrypts featured in another video on this week’s NXT episode where he said we would get to know which one among Axiom and Scrypts believe in themselves more.
In other matches, Eddy Thorpe will take on Damon Kemp which was set up after Kemp cut off Thorpe’s interview last week to start an argument. Dani Palmer will also make her in-ring debut next week. The complete line-up is as below:
