WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2023 event is a NXT weekly special show. It is scheduled to take place over two nights on October 24, 2023, and October 31, 2023. The event will air from WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL.

Night 1 will feature Becky Lynch vs Lyra Valkyrie match for NXT Women’s Championship. Night 2 will feature Ilja Dragunov vs Carmelo Hayes for NXT Championship.

NOTES & STORYLINES

Halloween Havoc series started in 1989 as a Halloween-themed PPV event under NWA. The series continued with an event every until 2000 even after WCW took over NWA. The PPV series ended after WWE purchased WCW in 2001. The series was revived as a TV special in 2020 under the NXT banner. The 2023 edition of the series is the 16th event overall in the series and 4th event under NXT. However, this is the first time that it is taking place over two nights.

The announcement for the event was made during the telecast of NXT No Merch 2023 PLE. Shotzi revealed while on the commentary during October 10 NXT episode that she and Scarlett would act as the co-host of the event.

Becky Lynch(c) vs Lyra Valkyrie – NXT Women’s Championship

Becky Lynch defeated Tiffany Stratton to win NXT Women’s Championship and become a grand slam champion in WWE. Lyra Valkyrie has helped her several times during attacks from Kiana James and Stratton and even partnered with her in a tag team match against the duo. On October 3 NXT episode, Lyra expressed the desire to get a shot at the Women’s title. Becky promptly accepted the challenge and the match was announced for night 1 of this event.

The D’Angelo Family(Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) vs Chase U(Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)- NXT Tag Team Championship

Cody Rhodes was the special guest manager for NXT on October 10 episode. Tony D’Angelo and Stacks went to him to discuss about their next title challengers. They proposed a muti-tag team match which would start as a battle royal, but the final two teams would then clash in a standard tag match. Cody liked the idea and named the match as Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal while also announcing that the winner of this match would challenge Stacks & D’Angelo on night 1 of Halloween Havoc.

Ilja Dragunov(c) vs Carmelo Hayes – NXT Championship

Ilja Dragunov won NXT Championship at No Merch 2023 by beating Carmelo Hayes. On October 10 NXT episode, Baron Corbin wanted to be the next title challenger as he was the last person to beat Dragunov before Hayes. However, before he could challenge Dragunov in the ring, Dijak attacked Dragunov. Corbin went to Cody Rhodes, the special guest manager, to ask for a title shot but Cody argued that Dijak had also staked the claim for the title. Cody then booked a triple threat match for the following week between Corbin, Dijak and the winner of main event of October 10 episode between Hayes and Bron Breakker. Hayes defeated Breakker in the main event match to qualify for this #1 contender’s match. Hayes later won the #1 contender match to get a rematch against Dragunov.

Gigi Dolin vs Blair Davenport – Lights Out Match

Blair Daveport attacked Gigi Dolin during his match against Thea Hail on September 5 NXT to cost her the match. The following week, Dolin attacked Davenport backstage in revenge. A match between them was scheduled for September 26 episode but Davenport attacked Dolin backstage beforehand, leading to the match being called off. At NXT No Mercy pre-show, Dolin attacked Davenport after he defeated Kelani Jordan. Dolin defeated Davenport in a match on October 3 NXT episode. On October 17 episode, Davenport challenged Dolin to a match at Halloween Havoc. Dolin accepted the match before revealing Spin the Wheel – Make the Deal Wheel, and spun it to decide a Lights Out match stipulation for their match.

Kiana James vs Roxanne Perez – Devil’s Playground Match

On September 5 NXT episode, Roxanne Perez was interrupted by Kiana James which led to a brawl between them On October 3 episode, both women were part of James pulled Perez out to ringside during #1 contender match for NXT Women’s Championship, costing her the match. Next week, James tried to attack Perez after her match with Asuka, but Shotzi appeared and attacked James. On the October 17 NXT episode, Perez distracted James during her match with Shotzi to cost her the match. Later on that episode, Perez asked Shotzi, host of Halloween Havoc, if she would mind Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal for a match against James. The wheel landed on Devil’s Playground Match.

Lexis King Debut

Videos for the debut of Brian Pillman Jr. started airing several weeks before Halloween Havoc. A week before the event, Pillman revealed that he wants to have a better career than his late father. He also revealed that he would be known as Lexis King and would debut on night 1 of the event.

Bron Breakker vs Mr. Stone

On September 5 NXT episode, Bron Breakker crushed Von Wagner’s skull with steel steps after their match. At NXT No Mercy, Mr. Stone, Wagner’s manager, interfered in Breakker’s match against Baron Corbin. Breakker ended up losing the match due to this. On October 17 NXT episode, Mr. Stone took issue with Breakker’s lack of remorse towards his act against Wagner and challenged him for a match at Night 1 of this event.

Women’s Breakout Tournament Bracket

  • Lola Vice defeated Dani Palmer – Quarterfinal match
  • Kelani Jordan defeated Izzi Dame – Quarterfinal match
  • Karmen Petrovic defeated Jaida Parker – Quarterfinal match
  • Arianna Grace defeated Brinley Reece – Quarterfinal match
  • Kelani Jordan defeated Arriana Grace – Semifinal match
  • Lola Vice defeated Kerman Petrovic – Semifinal match
  • Kelani Jordan vs Lola Vice – Final match

The Creed Brothers vs Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo – Tables, Ladders & Scares match

Both these teams were part of Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal. Garza and Carrillo eliminated The Creed Brothers after it seemed that The Creed had made it to the final two. On night 1 of Halloween Havoc, The Creed Brothers went to the hosts of the show Shotzi and Scarlett and discussed their issues with Garza and Carrillo. The hosts announced the match between them and Ivy Nile spun Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal wheel to decide a Tables, Ladders & Scares stipulation.

Dominik Mysterio(c) vs Nathan Frazer – NXT North American Championship

Nathan Frazer was at RAW on October 16 episode and asked Dominik Mysterio for a shot at NXT North American Championship when he interrupted him. They ended up brawling. On NXT October 17 episode, they brawled again until Dominik was saved by Judgment Day. On night 1 of this event, Nathan Frazer announced that he would challenge Dominik during his Hard Hitting Truth segment.

Tiffany Stratton vs Fallon Henley

On night 1 event, Fallon Henley was cosplaying Tiffany Stratton and interrupted her interview. As she continued to mimic Stratton in front of her, it led to Stratton getting frustrated. WWE later announced a match between them for night 2.

Chelsea Green & Piper Niven(c) vs Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail were celebrating with Andre Chase and Duke Hudson after they won NXT Tag Team Championship. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven, reigning Women’s Tag Team Champions, interrupted them. The argument led to Jayne challenging Green & Niven for a title match. The match was later confirmed for night 2.
