This week’s SmackDown episode featured not one or two but three two Superstars making their return to the show with Sheamus, Alexa Bliss and Elias appearing at various points in the show.
Sheamus was out of action since the post-WrestleMania edition of SmackDown after suffering a concussion. He has also reportedly suffered from spinal stenosis which prolonged his time away from the ring. However, Sheamus has been making appearances for WWE again since July and even appeared in the trailer for WWE 2K20 commercial.
Sheamus made his TV return last night at SmackDown in a pre-recorded promo. He took shots at current SmackDown roster for being weak, saying SmackDown use to be the land for opportunities for the fiercest warriors but it has fallen from there. This gives an opportunity for the Celtic Warrior to rule SmackDown.
Alexa Bliss is said to out due to some shoulder issues since Hell in a Cell 2019. She and Nikki Cross lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Kabuki Warriors at the show. Although, she did appear next night on RAW to make a save on Becky Lynch when Becky was attacked by Kabuki Warriors.
And she made her return to WWE TV in a similar manner as she made the save on her tag team partner Nikki Cross. Cross was under attack by Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. Bliss and Cross were drafted to SmackDown in a special trade post-WWE Draft 2019.
Elias was also out of action with an ankle injury since the start of September. He was replaced in the semifinal of the King of the Ring tournament by Shane McMahon against Shorty G. At the time, it was reported that he might return by the start of November.
Elias appeared in a backstage segment with Dana Brooke and Drake Maverick. He seemed to have turned face now as he claimed that he has been on a journey- both inwards and outwards and is a changed man now. He also did not ridicule the crowd like used to do earlier and performed a Christmas song.
