Rumor: Tomasso Ciampa to undergo neck surgery

Rumors are doing round that Tomasso Ciampa’s neck injury has become serious enough for him to undergo surgery which could force him to vacate the NXT Championship and be out of action for 6 months at least.

Ciampa is believed to be working with a neck injury for last few weeks in which he has worked some high intensity matches on NXT Takeover: Pheonix, HalfTime Heat Show, matches on his main roster call-up and the latest NXT episodes tapings. However, the reports of him undergoing surgery in near future is coming from none other than Dave Meltzer who provided the information on the Wrestling Observer Radio podcast. Any sort of confirmation from WWE will not be coming before 13th March’s episode of NXT since the TV tapings for that episode has already happened.

Spoilers Ahead
The injury might again be the reason that the angle of Johhny Gargano sending Ciampa through the LED was created to justify the injury. After reuniting as the tag team DIY, Gargano and Ciampa entered in Dusty Rhodes Classics tournament, winning their first match while losing in the second round to Aleister Black and Ricochet. After the loss they turned on each other which resulted in Gargano sending Ciampa into the LED screen and further assaulting him. The incident will provide a proper justification for the injury and upon his return, Ciampa can continue his rivalry with Gargano.

But first, let’s see if the injury report has any sort of credibility or is it some kind of work from WWE.
