Rhea Ripley will defend the WWE RAW Women’s Championship against Asuka and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match at WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021 PPV.
Ripley won the title from Asuka at WrestleMania 37. WWE announced a rematch between them before last night’s RAW episode. Later in the show, Flair made a case to get added to the title match and was granted that request from Sonya Deville.
Flair earlier cut a promo over interfered in a rematch between Ripley and Asuka on 12 April episode of RAW. Flair later faced Asuka in the #1 contender match where Ripley cost her the match. Flair then attacked the referee for not catching Rhea’s interference and got suspended.
Last week, Flair was brought back by Sonya Deville and was reinstated after she apologized to the referee. After the match between Rhea and Asuka was announced, Flair cut a promo in front of Sonya, who then added Flair to the title match. Rhea and Asuka came out following this development and got involved in a mini brawl with Flair.
This is the third match to be announced for WrestleMania Backlash 2021 event. WWE Championship triple threat match and Bianca Belair vs Bayley for SmackDown Women’s title are already confirmed for the show.
