NXT Updates: Corbin, Mustafa Ali Appear, Gigi Wins Steel Cage Match

Mustafa Ali and Baron Corbin’s appearances were the highlight of the show on WWE NXT May 30, 2023 episode along with the weaponized steel cage match.

One of the most hyped feuds in the NXT between Gigi Dolin and Jacy James reached its conclusion with a weaponized steel cage match that opened the show on May 30. Gigi was able to beat her former tag team partner Jacy to take her record to 2-1 in singles match between them.

Mustafa Ali was an unexpected surprise as he made his entrance during a tag team match between The Dyad(Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid) and Wes Lee & Tyler Bate. Ali was on the commentary for the second half of the match but had to get in action to save Bate and Lee from an attack from Joe Gacy.

Tony D’Angelo got arrested last week after we saw an investigator act on a tip he received from an informant. Tony was shown getting processed and had his mugshots taken this week. However, there was no mention of charges against him or who this informant was.

NXT saved probably the best surprise for the main event. NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes defeated Noam Dar to successfully retained his title. However, just when Hayes was celebrating his victory, Baron Corbin attacked him and dropped him with his finisher End of Days. Corbin ended the show by holding the NXT title in the air, signalling a future title showdown.
