Keith Lee became the #1 contender to face WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. The match will take place on next week’s RAW episode.

Keith Lee RAW 29 December

Drew McIntyre will be defending the WWE Championship on the first RAW episode of the year 2021. WWE announced the #1 contender match between Sheamus and Keith Lee prior to the show.

Tonight’s RAW opened with a segment involving McIntyre, Sheamus and Lee. Last week, Sheamus, McIntyre and Lee defeated The Miz, John Morrison and AJ Styles in a tag team Holiday Street Fight. Following the match, Sheamus went on to take out Lee with a Brogue kick.

The #1 contender match followed the opening segment for tonight’s RAW. Sheamus worked on Lee’s knees and tried his best to keep Lee down. However, Lee rode on some momentum and finished off the match with the Spirit Bomb finisher to win the match. This was followed by a customary post-match confrontation between McIntyre and Lee.

It is expected that Drew McIntyre vs Sheamus for WWE Championship is in plan for WWE Royal Rumble 2021 PPV. Let’s see how WWE reaches there.

The first RAW episode of 2021, on 4 January, is a Legends Night special and will feature several WWE legends of the past years. The likes of WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Torrie Wilson, Booker T, Mick Foley and many others are announced to appear.

Not much is known about what WWE has in plan for Legends Night. But, with WWE battling against low TV Ratings and WrestleMania season on the horizon, the company must be planning a big angle.
