WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg will reportedly return to WWE on the road to WWE SummerSlam 2021.
Goldberg was last seen at WWE Royal Rumble 2021 PPV where he lost to Drew McIntyre in a WWE title match. Goldberg has a deal with WWE for two matches per year. Now, his second match is likely revealed for this year.
Fightful Select is reporting that Goldberg is set to return on Monday’s live RAW from Dallas. It will be the first RAW episode with live fans since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current plan is for Goldberg to challenge WWE Champion Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam 2021.
Lashley is scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Kofi Kingston at Money in the Bank 2021 PPV this Sunday. Lashley is currently a favorite to retain the title against Kofi at this point.
Earlier, Brock Lesnar was long rumored to be Lashley’s opponent for SummerSlam. However, Lesnar and WWE have not figured out a new contract as per recent reports. Lesnar’s WWE contract ended after WrestleMania 26 in April 2020.
WWE SummerSlam 2021 will air from Aligiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV on 21 August 2021. John Cena is also expected to be booked against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns on that night. WWE has sold out the event with 41,000 tickets.
