Carmelo Hayes Joins WWE SmackDown for US Title Tournament

Carmelo Hayes is set to represent NXT brand on WWE December 15, 2023, episode of SmackDown episode.

As already revealed, a talent from NXT will participate in the WWE United States Championship Tournament during WWE SmackDown. Despite WWE confirming the tournament bracket on December 8 episode of SmackDown, the specific NXT star competing was still undisclosed.

On December 10, WWE posted a tweet featuring a video where Shawn Michaels revealed that Carmelo Hayes will be joining the WWE United States Championship Tournament. Hayes is scheduled to take on Grayson Waller in a first-round match set for December 15 episode of SmackDown.

Bobby Lashley and Santos Escobar emerged victorious in their respective first-round matches during December 8 episode. The upcoming first-round match on December 15 will feature Kevin Owens squaring off against Austin Theory.

Hayes clinched a victory at WWE NXT Deadline 2023 event by defeating Lexis King. However, during his previous appearance on the main roster, specifically on June 26 episode of WWE RAW, he faced Finn Balor and suffered a defeat.

Hayes and Waller share a history from their time in NXT, where they competed for NXT North American Championship and NXT Championship. During their tenure on the brand, Hayes holds a 2-0 record against Waller in singles competition.

Roman Reigns is also set for December 15 episode of SmackDown. December 15, 2023, episode of SmackDown will be live from Resch Center, Green Bay, WI. Below is the announced line-up for the show:
